The story follows a young girl, Wu Zhenzhen, who learns the art of cooking from the reclusive master Lin Hong in order to save her mother. She excels in the imperial culinary examinations and is chosen to serve in the palace. There, she becomes entangled in the intrigues of court politics and ultimately rises to the esteemed position of Sigongling - a female official in charge of palace affairs during the Song Dynasty. Wu Zhenzhen, plucked from the common people, enters the Imperial Kitchen Bureau as if she were a seed carried by the spring breeze onto the palace rooftops. With just a touch of soil, she begins to flourish, navigating the shifting tides of her era. Through her culinary skill and unwavering belief, she writes her own legend in history.
