Love's Ambition

Qiao Lin, the legitimate daughter, had a younger sister, Xu Yan, who was an unexpected addition to the family. Xu Yan's unplanned birth brought joy to Qiao Lin but resulted in their father losing his job, their mother being scorned, and Xu Yan herself becoming homeless and placed in foster care with their grandmother. Their parents' relentless appeals for justice over the unfair punishment they faced for having an extra child consumed much of their lives, but yielded no results and turned them into a local joke. Despite this, Qiao Lin genuinely loved her sister and always defended her. However, Xuyan secretly coveted her sister's role. It was only after Qiao Lin, discredited due to her parents' tarnished reputation, was rejected by her fiancé, gave birth to an illegitimate daughter, and subsequently committed suicide by drowning, that Xu Yan began to reassess her own life and responsibilities. The TV drama "Love's Ambition" is adapted from this novel. While the original story centres on the emotional struggles between two sisters and their complex relationship with their family of origin, the screen adaptation takes a significantly different approach with a strong focus on the transformation of the younger sister, Xu Yan, and the evolving romantic relationship between Shen Haoming and her.
