Chapter 72 : Poison Extraction

Chapter 72: Poison Extraction

Han Li silently complained to himself, but to maintain his image as a miraculous physician, he had to put on an air of confidence and remain smilingly silent.

His composed demeanor fooled everyone present, making them believe the pill's efficacy was within his expectations, thereby increasing their admiration for him.

Sect Leader Ma also laughed heartily, his smile tinged with a hint of smugness, as if Han Li were already his subordinate. Perhaps he believed that, for now, he was still the most likely candidate to secure Han Li's allegiance, hence his unrestrained delight.

However, the situation soon took a turn.

"Something's wrong!" Zhang Xiuer exclaimed in alarm.

"The dark Qi on Uncle's face seems to be rising again."

These words startled everyone. A few impatient individuals hurriedly crowded around the bed for a closer look, including Elder Zhao.

Hearing this, Han Li was momentarily taken aback but refrained from jostling forward like the others.

Mrs. Li, being observant and meticulous, quickly reprimanded the two juniors, making them step back from the bed to clear a space for Han Li, the miraculous physician, to examine the patient.

Only when the space was cleared did Han Li calmly step forward and carefully observe.

After roughly the time it took for half an incense stick to burn, Han Li finally confirmed that this wasn't a resurgence of dark Qi but merely residual traces of the poison that hadn't been completely purged, leaving faint wisps of black Qi on the face.

Having reached this conclusion, Han Li shot a sidelong glance at Zhang Xiuer, thinking the girl was overreacting.

This slightly reproachful look went unnoticed by others but was caught by Li Feiyu, who had been attentively watching Zhang Xiuer. He glared back at Han Li, clearly offended by the perceived slight to the goddess of his heart.

Han Li was speechless. It seemed Li Feiyu, now ensnared by love, had firmly chosen beauty over friendship.

He decided not to engage further with this love-struck simpleton and turned his attention back to Elder Li's condition.

Apart from the lingering dark Qi on his face, the Poison Spots on Elder Li's body had stopped shrinking after reaching the size of soybeans. Due to the remaining toxins, he remained unconscious.

Seeing this, Han Li knew his prepared follow-up measures would now come into play. There was no need to worry about covering up his earlier claims—this was the perfect opportunity to showcase his foresight.

"Fetch a basin filled with clean water," Han Li commanded in an authoritative tone.

This time, Zhang Xiuer wasn't the one to act. Ma Rong swiftly responded and dashed out to fulfill the request.

Han Li then turned solemnly to Elder Qian and Sect Leader Ma.

"Next, I'll need your assistance to use your Internal Energy to force the remaining toxins in Elder Li's body into specific acupoints. Then, I'll use the golden needle bloodletting method to drain the poisoned blood. Are you both capable of this?"

Sect Leader Ma's eyes flickered uncertainly, but he agreed nonetheless. Elder Qian gave a cold nod, his assent crisp and decisive.

"Why ask them? Am I not capable?" Elder Zhao protested, displeased that Han Li seemed to be underestimating him.

Han Li sighed inwardly, realizing he'd have to explain things to this stubborn man."Elder Zhao's Mixed Origin Palm primarily focuses on external martial arts, right? In terms of the purity of Internal Energy, I still believe Sect Leader Ma and the other are more suitable," Han Li said calmly without haste.

"This..."

The other party was left speechless by Han Li's gentle but firm rebuttal.

Ignoring the somewhat disgruntled old fool, Han Li addressed the others in the room with a commanding tone:

"Aside from Sect Leader Ma and the other, everyone else should leave first. The method to detoxify Elder Li is not suitable for public viewing, and the healing process requires absolute quiet—it must not be disturbed."

Han Li's words stunned the people in the room, but Mrs. Li was the first to understand. She bowed deeply and said respectfully, "I entrust my husband to you all." Then, tactfully, she was the first to exit the room.

Following Mrs. Li's lead, whether willing or reluctant, the others filed out one by one and returned to the main hall.

When Ma Rong brought a basin of clean water, Han Li immediately shooed him out and tightly shut the door, leaving the crowd outside exchanging bewildered glances.

Time passed slowly, quarter-hour by quarter-hour. No one knew how long it had been, but the bedroom door remained closed, and not a single sound could be heard from inside.

This unusual silence made those waiting restless and uneasy. A shadow of worry crept silently into everyone's hearts. Even Mrs. Li, who had initially appeared composed, now seemed unable to sit still, let alone the hot-tempered Elder Zhao, who had already paced countless circles around the hall.

Just as everyone in the hall had completely lost patience, the bedroom door creaked open from the inside.

As if by reflex, all eyes instantly focused on the doorway, and the atmosphere grew tense and heavy.

Han Li emerged slowly, his face weary. Seeing the grave expressions on everyone's faces, he smiled faintly.

"It's done. The residual poison has been completely expelled. Elder Li just needs to rest through the night, and he’ll wake up naturally by tomorrow."

Han Li spoke with confidence. Truthfully, even he hadn’t expected the detoxification to proceed so smoothly, without a single hitch.

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Li and the others beamed with joy, their earlier gloom completely dispelled. A few impatient individuals immediately tried to rush inside, but Han Li raised a hand to stop them.

"Elder Li is very weak right now and shouldn’t be disturbed by noise or crowds. Sect Leader Ma and the other have also exhausted their Origin Qi during the detoxification and are now meditating to recover. I suggest only a few enter—ideally, just Mrs. Li," Han Li said solemnly to her.

Overjoyed by the good news, Mrs. Li had no objections. She nodded hastily and, without even pausing to thank Han Li, hurried into the bedroom alone.
