Chapter 71 : Clear Spirit Powder
Chapter 71: Clear Spirit Powder
Han Li frowned deeply, remaining silent.
He had already checked the pulse, examined the tongue coating, and observed the pupils, preliminarily concluding that this poison was similar to the "Entangling Fragrance Silk" he had encountered before—a complex blend of toxins. To thoroughly neutralize each component, Han Li lacked the necessary skill. His only options were to try the "Clear Spirit Powder" and a few other unorthodox methods.
Thinking this, Han Li inwardly cursed the other physicians who had shirked the responsibility of detoxification and dumped the problem onto him. Outwardly, however, he maintained a thoughtful and studious demeanor.
After a while, Elder Zhao couldn't hold back any longer and blurted out:
"Young man! Can you save Elder Li or not? Say something!"
"Elder Zhao, you're too impatient. Can't you see Physician Han is still figuring it out? Be patient!" Before Han Li could respond, Sect Leader Ma, standing nearby, played the role of the good guy and mocked Elder Zhao.
Elder Zhao glared, about to retort, but Han Li lightly coughed before he could speak, cutting off his attempt.
The cough drew surprised glances from everyone in the room. Only then did Han Li realize that a teenager mimicking an old man's cough might seem ridiculous. But it didn't matter—his goal was achieved. He had no desire to listen to their bickering any longer.
"This poison is a complex blend. Detoxification will indeed be troublesome. I can't guarantee complete success, but I can try. The process carries risks and may endanger Elder Li's life. Do you still wish for me to proceed?" Han Li feigned hesitation as he spoke these words.
For him, it would be even better if they refused—his confidence in success was truly low.
Han Li's words left the family members exchanging uneasy glances. None dared to immediately agree, yet none of the other physicians seemed more capable than Han Li.
After a long silence, Mrs. Li, Elder Li's wife, suddenly spoke up:
"Physician Han, what are the chances you can save my husband?"
"Fifty percent," Han Li answered without hesitation.
"Very well. Divine Physician Han, please proceed. If my husband meets an unfortunate fate, I will not hold it against you. It would simply be heaven's will." Mrs. Li wore a resolute expression, making a swift decision that surprised Han Li.
"Sister-in-law, won't you reconsider? This young physician is so inexperienced—it seems risky!" Elder Zhao grew anxious and tried to dissuade her impulsive choice.
"I've already thought it through. If we don't let Physician Han attempt the detoxification, my husband likely won't survive the night. It's better to take the risk—there's still a fifty percent chance of success." Mrs. Li lowered her head and spoke softly, her voice tinged with sorrow.
"This…" Elder Zhao was left speechless.
Han Li glanced at the others. Seeing no objections to Mrs. Li's decision, he retrieved a blue porcelain bottle from his medical pouch and poured out a red pill.
"Someone fetch a bowl of warm water. Dissolve this medicine and administer it to Elder Li."
"I'll go." Before Han Li could finish speaking, a clear voice responded.
Zhang Xiuer, who had been standing nearby with reddened eyes, answered and hurried out of the room.Li Feiyu was momentarily stunned but quickly followed her out, which made Han Li inwardly despise him quite a bit.
Before long, Zhang Xiuer walked back in with a helpless expression, empty-handed. Meanwhile, Li Feiyu carefully carried a white porcelain bowl, following closely behind her.
Everyone in the room couldn’t help but smile at the sight, their expressions clearly showing they were enjoying the spectacle. This caused Zhang Xiuer’s face to flush slightly, leaving her flustered and revealing an unmistakably girlish demeanor.
However, this lightened the tense atmosphere in the room considerably, putting many at ease.
Li Feiyu obediently handed the bowl to Mrs. Li.
"Doctor Han, is this bowl of water acceptable?" Mrs. Li turned to seek Han Li’s opinion.
"It’ll do."
Han Li glanced at the white bowl and nodded, then took it with one hand and dropped the pill into the water. In an instant, the entire bowl turned a deep red.
"Just pour it down Elder Li’s throat. Women are more meticulous, so it’s better if you do it." Han Li extended his hand and returned the bowl to her.
Mrs. Li immediately agreed without hesitation.
To her, every word Han Li spoke now concerned her husband’s life—how could she not comply?
"What kind of medicine is this, exactly?" Elder Zhao couldn’t hold back any longer as he watched Mrs. Li slowly pour the large bowl of red medicine into Elder Li’s mouth. It was a question everyone in the room wanted answered.
"A detoxifying medicine I made myself. Hopefully, it’ll have some effect." Han Li replied nonchalantly.
He didn’t want anyone to know the name "Clear Spirit Powder." Who knew if this renowned antidote might bring him trouble? It was better to keep a low profile.
After administering the medicine, it took about the time of a meal for the dark aura on Elder Li’s face to gradually fade. The Poison Spots on his body also lightened and began shrinking.
Even an amateur could tell from these obvious changes that the poison in Elder Li’s body was gradually weakening—things were moving in a positive direction.
Seeing this, the people in the room couldn’t help but beam with joy, their gazes toward Han Li now completely different from before. Only Elder Zhao, still unable to swallow his pride, gave a light snort—though his expression had softened considerably.
Han Li was also surprised to see the poison receding without him having taken any further steps.
The effectiveness of the "Clear Spirit Powder" was beyond his expectations. Perhaps the poison wasn’t as potent as he had imagined, he mused.
Yet, despite the favorable turn of events, Han Li felt somewhat frustrated for two reasons: First, he had earlier mentioned that the detoxification process carried some risks. But if the poison was now being neutralized so easily, wouldn’t that make him look like a liar, as if he had deliberately misled them?
Second, why was the "Clear Spirit Powder" so effective against others’ poisons but useless for his own? It still left him vexed and anxious over the Yin poison afflicting his body.
