Chapter 51 : The Giant's Might
Chapter 51: The Giant's Might
Once poisoned by the "Entangling Fragrance Silk," its venom would gradually spread throughout the body via the bloodstream.
For ordinary people, being poisoned by this toxin within a short period was not particularly dangerous. However, for martial artists, it posed a fatal threat. Those poisoned must not recklessly circulate their internal True Qi during this time, as it would accelerate the venom's effects, causing their blood to flow backward and subjecting them to excruciating pain.
If the poisoning lasted for an extended period and the venom penetrated deep into the body, the situation would become even more troublesome.
Although the poisoned individual might regain control over their True Qi, they would need to take antidotes daily to suppress the venom. Otherwise, their bones would gradually undergo abnormal changes, causing their body to wither and eventually shrink into a pile of mud, leaving them immobile on the ground.
What was even more terrifying was that since the venom had penetrated the bone marrow, there was no way to completely eradicate it. The only option was to rely on long-term medication to temporarily suppress its effects, allowing the venom to linger like an unbreakable bond, accompanying the victim for life.
The materials used to concoct this poison were diverse, with many being interchangeable. Although the consequences were the same, the specific nature of the venom varied depending on the person who prepared it, making it unpredictable. Naturally, the antidotes also differed, and only the creator of the poison could prescribe the correct remedy to suppress the venom. Others, even if they knew the formula for the "Entangling Fragrance Silk," would be unable to concoct an effective antidote.
In this way, the life of the poisoned individual was entirely in the hands of the poisoner, leaving them with no choice but to obey and not dare to resist.
Doctor Mo filtered through his memories of the "Entangling Fragrance Silk" and understood why Han Li was so confident.
He sneered inwardly, his expression unchanged, and spoke indifferently:
"Is this your final move?"
"Boy, if you have no other tricks up your sleeve, you might as well surrender quietly!"
Han Li's heart sank. Seeing that Doctor Mo remained unfazed by his threat, he realized he must have overlooked something.
He could tell that Doctor Mo truly did not care about the poison. Despite being poisoned by the "Entangling Fragrance Silk," the man showed no concern, as if it hadn't affected him in the slightest.
Because of this, Han Li knew he was at a severe disadvantage. It seemed Doctor Mo was already confident of capturing him.
Seeing Han Li remain silent, Doctor Mo chuckled, a sly glint flashing in his eyes as he shouted:
"Iron Slave, go and capture him for me."
Upon hearing this, Han Li immediately remembered that he had completely forgotten about an important figure since entering the room. Without thinking further, he hooked the weapon at his feet with his toe, and the iron spike automatically jumped into his hand.
In that instant, a massive black shadow, accompanied by a gust of wind, darted out from a corner of the room and appeared before him. Its speed was so fast that Han Li had no time to dodge.
Helpless, he thrust the spike in his hand toward the shadow's abdomen, hoping to buy himself a moment to retreat and catch his breath.
Using a short spike to target the abdomen was far from ideal, but Han Li had no choice. The opponent was simply too large, and the weapon in his hand was only a few inches long, making it the only reachable spot.Han Li suddenly felt as if he had collided with some inhuman beast. The wrist he had extended was struck as if by a massive log, immediately dislocating, and his body was forced back several steps by the impact. The iron awl in his hand was deflected as if it had struck a stone, flying out of sight and disappearing.
Han Li was both shocked and furious. Just as he managed to steady himself from the collision, he felt a shadow loom before him, followed by a massive figure. Then, a sharp pain shot through his shoulders as two enormous hands clamped down on his shoulder blades, making him feel as if he were being crushed.
Han Li struggled desperately, but his body felt as if it were pinned under a mountain, completely immobilized.
In his desperation, he didn’t hesitate. He raised his knee and slammed it hard into the vulnerable spot between the giant figure’s legs.
"Ouch!" Han Li cried out, cold sweat pouring down his face. The target he had aimed for was as hard as stone, and his kneecap felt as if it had shattered into pieces, like an egg hitting a rock.
However, his action seemed to enrage the other party. The giant hands on his shoulders suddenly exerted even more force, causing Han Li such excruciating pain that he nearly passed out. His body went limp, collapsing to the ground.
"Easy, Iron Slave. I still have great use for this man," came Doctor Mo’s stern voice at this critical moment.
As soon as the words were spoken, Han Li felt the weight on his shoulders lessen, and the pain subsided significantly. He couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief, feeling for the first time that Doctor Mo’s voice was oddly comforting. However, along with his relief, the long-standing suspicion in his heart grew even stronger.
From the very beginning, Han Li had noticed that Doctor Mo, for some reason, always held back at critical moments, seemingly afraid of harming him. Naturally, Han Li didn’t believe this was out of kindness or deliberate restraint. There must be some hidden, unspeakable reason that made Doctor Mo cautious, preventing him from attacking with full force. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been locked in this stalemate for so long.
Han Li secretly resolved to take full advantage of this and negotiate with Doctor Mo, then find a way to escape his clutches.
Doctor Mo walked up to him, seemingly aware of his thoughts, and a mocking expression briefly flashed across his face. He first felt around Han Li’s chest and retrieved a protective mirror, which left him momentarily speechless. It turned out that this object had blocked his acupoint strike.
Doctor Mo shook his head slightly without saying anything, then took out a rectangular yellow wooden box from his robe. The box was exquisitely crafted, adorned with carvings of dragons and phoenixes, clearly a rare and valuable item that ordinary people would seldom see.
In front of Han Li, Doctor Mo solemnly opened the box. Inside were several identical silver blades. These blades had a peculiar shape, neither quite like a saber nor a sword. The curved blade was crescent-shaped, and its size was similar to that of a dagger, making it quite unusual.
When Doctor Mo took out one of the silver blades, Han Li noticed that the strange blade was incredibly thin, as thin as a sheet of paper. A cold light shimmered and flowed across the blade’s surface, giving it an appearance of extreme sharpness. It seemed as if it could cut through flesh as easily as cutting cloth. Even more bizarrely, at the end of the blade’s hilt was an inlaid ghost head with closed eyes. The ghost’s face was blue with fangs, and it had two horns on its head, making it look extremely ferocious.Doctor Mo held the Strange Blades in his hand and cast a meaningful sidelong glance at Han Li from the corner of his eye.
This gesture sent a chill down Han Li's spine. Could it be that his ominous words had actually come true? Was the other party really going to use these Strange Blades to cut him?
