Chapter 50 : The Entangling Fragrance Silk
Chapter 50: The Entangling Fragrance Silk
At this moment, Doctor Mo recalled how Han Li had insisted on keeping the door open when he first entered the room. It seemed that even then, Han Li had already laid the groundwork to use the reflection of sunlight. Despite his young age, Han Li had thought so thoroughly and set up such a meticulous and ruthless trap, causing this seasoned Jianghu veteran to fall headfirst into it, almost without a chance to recover. The depth of his scheming was truly incongruent with his age and experience. Could it be that this person was truly a born prodigy, a reincarnated genius?
The more Doctor Mo pondered, the more he felt a creeping fear, and cold sweat continued to pour down his body.
After this setback, Doctor Mo's wariness of Han Li grew even stronger. He faced Han Li with extreme caution, not daring to act rashly for the moment.
For some reason, Han Li merely stared at Doctor Mo without any intention of attacking. The two of them were at a standstill, eyeing each other in silence.
After a while, in the awkward atmosphere, Han Li suddenly spoke a sentence that left Doctor Mo dumbfounded and stunned on the spot.
"Old Mo, let's make peace. How about I surrender? What do you think?"
After saying this, Han Li casually tossed the weapon in his hand to the ground, revealing a set of white teeth as he smiled at Doctor Mo, looking every bit like an honest country boy.
"Surrender?"
At first, Doctor Mo thought he had misheard, but he quickly realized the truth. He glanced at the iron awl Han Li had discarded, not believing a word of it, and retorted fiercely:
"What kind of scheme are you plotting? Don't think for a second that I'll believe your nonsense. If you wanted to surrender, you could have done so from the start. Why wait until we've fought to the death before pulling this stunt?"
Han Li continued to smile at Doctor Mo without responding, seemingly accepting the accusation. The two of them fell into a stalemate once again.
After a short while, Doctor Mo seemed to remember something extremely amusing. He suddenly hunched over, clutching his stomach, and burst into laughter. His laughter was unrestrained, and tears even spilled from the corners of his eyes.
"Haha! Ha! Haha! This... this is truly amusing. I actually forgot such an important thing. I really... really crossed sabers and spears with you openly," Doctor Mo said between fits of laughter, his words somewhat slurred.
Han Li frowned slightly but then relaxed indifferently. He glanced out the window, and the smile on his lips deepened. He spoke unhurriedly:
"Old Mo, don't you think we've wasted too much time? It's time to end this."
Doctor Mo paused, his laughter ceasing.
He slowly straightened up, his face hardening as he stared expressionlessly at Han Li. After a long moment, he replied coldly:
"I agree. It's time to end this."
Both of them suddenly seemed confident, as if they had each found a trump card to subdue the other and force them into submission.
After a tense silence, it was Han Li who spoke first, his tone filled with confidence. He believed that what he held would make Doctor Mo yield and abandon any further schemes.
"Old Mo, do you know that your life is now in my hands?" Han Li's words were shocking from the very first sentence."My life is in your hands?" Doctor Mo sneered, his face filled with disbelief.
"Don't you feel something unusual about your wound?"
"Nonsense! I clearly saw that your dagger had no..." Doctor Mo retorted, but halfway through, his expression changed drastically. He remembered that it wasn't the dagger that had wounded him, but the hidden spike.
"It seems I don't need to say more. Old Mo already understands my meaning," Han Li said with a smile, looking at him.
"Even so, what can you do? Don't forget, I was the one who taught you the art of medicine. What poison could I not cure?" Doctor Mo's face quickly returned to normal as he spoke calmly.
"Hehe! I forgot to mention, my blade was coated with 'Silken Fragrance.'"
"Silken Fragrance?" Doctor Mo gasped softly, clearly caught off guard.
"Indeed. Old Mo must know how potent this drug is, right?" Han Li teased leisurely.
"Nonsense! How could you have concocted such a poison? I never revealed even a hint of its formula," Doctor Mo insisted, still trying to maintain his composure. However, the strange sensation from his wound had already convinced him of the truth.
Seeing that Doctor Mo still refused to admit defeat, Han Li sighed and decided to explain.
"Old Mo, don't forget, your medical books were completely open to me back then. The formula was tucked away in an obscure medical text. If I hadn't been thorough, I might have missed it."
Only then did Doctor Mo recall that when he first obtained the formula, he had meticulously copied the method of preparation and the required ingredients onto a piece of paper, fearing he might forget something due to the complexity of the process. He had casually tucked the note into a book, but over time, with so many things happening, he had completely forgotten about it. Now, it had fallen into Han Li's hands, causing him such trouble.
"Why don't we sit down and have a proper discussion about making peace?" Han Li said confidently.
With a snort, Doctor Mo ignored Han Li, his mind racing to recall the method and effects of "Silken Fragrance."
The name "Silken Fragrance" didn't sound the least bit terrifying; in fact, it evoked a sense of allure and romantic imagery. However, its potency was like the longing of a lovesick woman, unbearable and seeping deep into the bones.
