Lu Sui аnd Shеn Тing bоth lookеd ехtrеmеly grim.
Wu Mangmаng quiсkly stoоd up, while Ning Zhеng арреаred cоmpletely at eаsе, showing nо embаrrаssmеnt аt having bееn саught in аn intimatе moment. "You'rе hеre fоr drinks too? Join us."
Fаcing Lu Sui, Wu Mаngmang felt а dеер sеnsе оf guilt rising from within. Bеing with Ning Zhеng alwауs gаve hеr a slight fееling of having stоlеn from Lu Sui.
Мoreovеr, Lu Sui had even smilеd аt hеr—somеthing unprecеdеntеd.
Wu Mаngmаng wаs sо frightеnеd her lеgs trеmbled. Fоrgetting thе mental рreраrаtion shе hаd rесently madе—to greet Lu Sui confidеntly the neхt time theу met—shе сould оnly timidly say, "You two take your time. I'm going upstairs to rest."
With that, Wu Mangmang hurried away as if chased by a vicious dog, afraid someone might call her back.
Lying in bed, Wu Mangmang reflected on herself, feeling she was still not mature enough to handle the situation of "my ex-boyfriend is my current boyfriend's close friend."
Although neither was married and there was no cheating involved, her sense of morality still bubbled up from time to time.
Wu Mangmang thought that in the next two days, she would help Ning Zheng deal with Ning Heng, and then she could gracefully withdraw, never to interact with them again.
The next day, Wu Mangmang woke up early, stretched every muscle in her body to adjust to peak condition, and checked her backpack once more to ensure she hadn't forgotten anything.
The security check for the war game was strict. Everyone's backpacks were opened and inspected item by item, and they were also subjected to body searches. All sharp objects were prohibited.
After passing the security checkpoint, weapons were issued: a sniper rifle and two handguns, each loaded with eight rounds, along with two spare magazines to carry.
Food and ammunition could be replenished at their team's base in the mountains. The battle would last two days, ending at 8 a.m. two days later.
Wu Mangmang's team consisted of twenty people, led by Luo Kaiyue, Zhao Xinyun's suitor and a well-known figure in the city.
In the past, the captain would have been Ning Zheng, but reality was often cruel—a featherless phoenix was no better than a chicken.
The members of the two opposing teams lined up and nodded to each other in a show of friendship, emphasizing camaraderie over competition.
Then the two captains stepped forward and shook hands.
Wu Mangmang looked at Lu Sui in his military-green combat uniform and realized he actually suited the military style quite well—slim waist, broad shoulders, and powerful muscles, something she knew from personal experience.
Gazing at Lu Sui's face, Wu Mangmang thought, no wonder many girls had a thing for uniforms. She couldn't help feeling a little excited herself.
Looking behind Lu Sui, Shen Ting's physique was also quite impressive.
Nowadays, any man with a bit of ambition paid close attention to his figure. Weight loss and fitness were no longer exclusive to women.
As for Wu Mangmang's team, the Lightning Squad, their combat uniforms were black-themed. The female members wore black tank tops paired with black leather jackets.
Wu Mangmang immediately felt the designer had drawn inspiration from Scarlett Johansson's portrayal of Black Widow.
And the reason Wu Mangmang had chosen the Lightning Squad was precisely because she fancied this outfit.
When she looked in the mirror that morning, she was almost struck by her own handsomeness.
Girls wearing such outfits could double their rate of turning heads, but those with less-than-ideal figures might struggle to pull it off, as it easily exposed excess fat.Wu Mangmang gave Zhao Xinyun a critical look. To be honest, her figure was quite good too—Luo Kaiyue’s eyes were practically on fire when he looked at her—but Wu Mangmang still managed to find a flaw: her butt wasn’t perky enough.
After lining up and saluting, Wu Mangmang and the others boarded the vehicles and were taken to the designated starting point.
The first day was essentially a physical training exercise. The two teams moved toward each other from east and west, and it would take until at least the afternoon for them to possibly meet.
Team Lightning’s Camp 1 was set up halfway up the mountain. By the time the main force arrived, it was already 2 p.m.
“Everyone, take a break and replenish your energy. Pack as much dry rations and water as you can carry. Camp 2 only has supplies for ten people, including ammunition,” Luo Kaiyue said.
Even the sleeping bags for the night were limited to ten. The organizing committee was practically forcing you to raid the enemy’s base.
Camp 1 wasn’t equipped for overnight stays, and Camp 3 was too far to reach in a day, so Camp 2 was a strategic high ground that had to be seized.
There was a delicate young lady in the team, and Luo Kaiyue was unwilling to give up on Zhao Xinyun no matter what. Since this wasn’t a real life-or-death battle, and Luo Kaiyue wanted to win the beauty’s favor, the others didn’t object too strongly.
As a result, Team Lightning became almost the opposite of its name. It was already dark, and they still hadn’t reached Camp 2.
Ning Zheng and Wu Mangmang walked at the front of the team, their task roughly equivalent to scouts. Wu Mangmang was incredibly agile, climbing trees like a monkey, leaving Ning Zheng dumbfounded.
“I think I saw flashlight lights in the woods ahead,” Wu Mangmang called from the tree.
Ning Zheng immediately said, “Everyone behind, turn off your flashlights. We might have run into people from Team Storm.”
The mountain forest fell into silence, the shadows of the trees pitch black like countless vengeful spirits. Though moonlight filtered through the gaps, it only made the scene more eerie.
The elevation near Camp 2 was around two thousand meters, and the vegetation had shifted from broadleaf forests to spruce forests. The slender spruce trees couldn’t conceal human figures, so faint silhouettes of the other side could be seen.
Wu Mangmang stayed motionless in the tree. Ning Zheng switched to the private channel and asked, “Scared?”
“No.” Wu Mangmang only felt excitement. After walking all day, she was exhausted, but now they could finally engage in a gunfight.
After observing carefully for a while, Wu Mangmang said, “There aren’t many of them. I’d say about five. But our Camp 2 has probably been looted clean.”
“It’s fine. They’ll definitely return to their own Camp 2. We’ll sneak over and raid them later tonight. For now, let’s take care of these five,” Ning Zheng said.
With twenty people against five, the odds were naturally quite high. After the exchange of fire, Wu Mangmang’s sharp eyes spotted Ning Zheng’s younger brother, Ning Heng, among the five.
“It’s Ning Heng,” Wu Mangmang shouted.
Ning Heng probably hadn’t expected Team Lightning to gather all twenty people together. Team Storm had long since split into several groups, each with their own assignments.
With limited visibility at night, some people were firing blindly. Zhao Xinyun nearly shot Ning Zheng in the foot, and gasps and screams were constant.
In short, it was a complete mess.
Wu Mangmang sat on a tree branch, holding her gun, but couldn’t find a clear target to aim at. Sniping was definitely out of the question.Wu Mangmang simply slid down from the tree. Ning Zheng and the others had already taken out two or three people, but the remaining one, Ning Heng, had escaped.
Ning Zheng was about to lead his team in pursuit, but Wu Mangmang couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. These five people seemed almost like they had come to die.
However, the other side clearly knew Ning Zheng well. With Ning Heng appearing, it was impossible for Ning Zheng not to give chase.
Unable to dissuade Ning Zheng, Wu Mangmang had no choice but to run after him.
The forest was dense with shadows, and even the slightest rustle of leaves could startle her. Wu Mangmang didn't dare get too close to Ning Zheng, fearing that if they walked into an ambush, the entire team would be wiped out.
Sure enough, while still about ten meters away, Wu Mangmang heard a series of gunshots. She quickly climbed a nearby tree and saw Ning Zheng and his two teammates engaged in a firefight with a group from the Storm Team.
Wu Mangmang couldn't yet make out the exact number of opponents.
But in her rifle scope, a face flashed by—it was Ning Heng. This was truly a case of "searching far and wide, only to find it effortlessly."
Wu Mangmang's rifle followed Ning Heng's movements, the red aiming dot particularly conspicuous in the wilderness. Shen Yuanzi let out a sharp scream, and Ning Heng immediately realized something was wrong.
Unable to aim precisely, Wu Mangmang took a risky shot. It seemed to have hit Ning Heng in the shoulder. She immediately slid down from the tree and called out to Ning Zheng over the communicator, "Ning Heng has been shot in the shoulder."
It was hard to identify people at night, but if someone was shot in the shoulder, they'd be easier to spot. That type of bullet would temporarily paralyze the arm.
Unfortunately, Ning Zheng hadn't responded over the communicator. Wu Mangmang had no choice but to follow Ning Heng and Shen Yuanzi herself.
However, Wu Mangmang wasn't very experienced in tracking, and she was soon detected by Ning Heng and Shen Yuanzi. The two split up, eventually trapping Wu Mangmang between them.
"It's you?!" Ning Heng, of course, recognized Wu Mangmang.
Shen Yuanzi looked at Wu Mangmang and sneered, "You're quite devoted to Ning Zheng."
Before she could finish the word "devoted," Shen Yuanzi was shot in the chest, declaring her dead.
Wu Mangmang had learned from years of watching movies and TV shows: never waste time on unnecessary talk.
Shen Yuanzi had talked too much.
However, just as Wu Mangmang shot Shen Yuanzi, Ning Heng kicked at her.
Wu Mangmang rolled on the ground to dodge, then pushed herself up with one hand and kicked Ning Heng's wrist, knocking his pistol away. She immediately shot him in return.
Wu Mangmang, of course, didn't miss, but her situation wasn't much better. Something that felt unmistakably like a gun barrel was now pressed against her back.
Wu Mangmang dropped her gun and raised her hands in surrender.
As soon as the gun behind her was withdrawn, she turned around to see—who else could it be but Shen Ting?
Confused by Shen Ting's intentions, Wu Mangmang could only stand there dumbfounded.
Shen Ting whispered, "Aren't you leaving?"
Wu Mangmang felt a surge of relief. It really was easier to deal with someone familiar. She softly said, "Thank you."
"Head toward nine o'clock. There's no one there," Shen Ting added.
Having narrowly escaped with her life thanks to Shen Ting, Wu Mangmang didn't dare linger. She ran straight toward Camp 2. On the way, she finally managed to contact Ning Zheng. He had been shot earlier, lost his communicator, and only just managed to retrieve it."I want to take advantage of the chaos to seize the flag at the mountain top. You should head back to the camp and rest for a bit. I’ll notify you if anything comes up," Ning Zheng said hurriedly.
"Should I go with you?" Wu Mangmang asked.
"No need. Climbing at night is more difficult. You should return to camp and rest. I’ll be counting on you to support me later," Ning Zheng replied.
By the time Wu Mangmang returned to Camp 2, it was already 2 a.m. However, the camp had already been looted by the Storm Team. Exhausted and barely able to keep her eyes open, she didn’t care about cleanliness and simply lay down on the moisture-proof mat in the wooden cabin, still in her clothes, using her backpack as a pillow.
At around 4 a.m., Wu Mangmang heard someone shouting "Storm Team." Groggily opening her eyes, she only jumped up from the ground when she heard gunfire. Without grabbing anything, she followed Luo Kaiyue and the others as they fled the camp.
Zhao Xinyun began to complain, "It’s just a game. Do they have to take it so seriously? Launching a surprise attack at 4 a.m.?"
Wu Mangmang also felt the other team was taking the game too seriously.
But there was no point in complaining now. Everyone had a competitive streak, and she didn’t want to get shot—apparently, it hurt quite a bit.
The disorganized group scattered in panic under the enemy’s assault. Fortunately, Wu Mangmang remembered to bring her gun while fleeing, though she left her backpack behind.
Wu Mangmang and Zhao Xinyun unexpectedly bumped into each other, and Zhao Xinyun visibly relaxed.
"This forest is terrifying. Let’s stick together," Zhao Xinyun said.
Wu Mangmang nodded.
Wu Mangmang glanced back toward the camp, which had fallen silent again, while flashlights began flickering frequently in the forest. She muttered, "Oh no."
"What’s wrong?" Zhao Xinyun asked nervously.
"If the Storm Team is openly searching with flashlights like this, our side is probably mostly wiped out," Wu Mangmang said. "Hide here for a bit. I’ll go back and check—I forgot my backpack." Zhao Xinyun hadn’t taken her backpack either and was even wearing slippers.
"Go ahead. If possible, bring my shoes back too," Zhao Xinyun said.
Before Wu Mangmang could make it back to the camp, Shen Ting spotted her again. He held up three fingers, signaling "three strikes and you’re out." Wu Mangmang knew that if Shen Ting caught her again, she wouldn’t escape.
Wu Mangmang cursed her bad luck, thinking she should get some training before participating in such live-action combat games again.
Wu Mangmang and Zhao Xinyun, these two unlucky souls, seemed to be the last survivors. The communicator was silent, creating a chilling, desolate atmosphere, but it also fostered a sense of camaraderie between them.
"Why did you and Lu Sui break up?" Zhao Xinyun couldn’t help but ask Wu Mangmang.
Wu Mangmang wasn’t fond of Zhao Xinyun prying into her privacy after only a few words, so she just smiled.
Zhao Xinyun knew she was overstepping but couldn’t help herself. "Lu Sui and I broke up, you know?"
Wu Mangmang nodded.
"I don’t even know why or what I did to upset him. Wang Yuan broke up with him just as mysteriously. Was it the same for you?" Zhao Xinyun asked.Wu Mangmang found traveling with Zhao Xinyun somewhat painful. Having to take care of the young lady's various survival issues was one thing, but dealing with her endless questions was a bit too much to bear.
Fortunately, Wu Mangmang's communicator suddenly crackled to life. "This is Luo Kaiyue. Can anyone hear me?"
"This is Wu Mangmang. Go ahead," Wu Mangmang replied, mouthing "Luo Kaiyue" to Zhao Xinyun.
"Give it to me, give it to me," Zhao Xinyun eagerly reached out.
Wu Mangmang handed the communicator to Zhao Xinyun.
"He says he and another teammate are at Camp 3 and want us to go meet up," Zhao Xinyun reported.
Wu Mangmang looked up at the mountaintop. It seemed close at hand, but she had no idea how much longer they'd have to walk.
In the end, when Zhao Xinyun couldn't walk anymore, Wu Mangmang even carried her for a stretch. It wouldn't do to abandon her teammate on the road, and Zhao Xinyun was so timid that even a pheasant running past could make her scream.
Wu Mangmang and Zhao Xinyun reached the vicinity of Camp 3 around 4 p.m. When they were about a kilometer away, Wu Mangmang grew cautious. She handed the communicator to Zhao Xinyun and said, "Tell Luo Kaiyue to come meet us. Say we're at the 2 o'clock direction from the camp."
Zhao Xinyun frowned. "Is that necessary? Aren't we at the 6 o'clock direction? If we say that, Luo Kaiyue and the others won't find us. What if we run into the Storm Team? That would be terrible."
"Better safe than sorry. I'll watch them from a tree," Wu Mangmang insisted.
Even Ning Zheng had been eliminated. Wu Mangmang found it illogical that Lu Sui and his team would let Luo Kaiyue go. Of course, it was also possible that Luo Kaiyue, like them, was a lucky survivor who slipped through the net.
"I don't agree. I'm exhausted, tired and thirsty. Can we not make things more difficult?" Zhao Xinyun was truly out of energy. She felt Wu Mangmang was practically a female monster—beautiful and slender in appearance, yet with a vitality as tenacious as wild grass.
"I don't mind either way. My family isn't wealthy, after all. But are you sure you'd be willing to be at someone else's mercy if you were captured?" Wu Mangmang retorted.
Zhao Xinyun fell silent, reluctantly taking the communicator from Wu Mangmang to call Luo Kaiyue.
But there was no response from Luo Kaiyue's end. Wu Mangmang cursed under her breath, "Damn it." The enemy was too cunning.
Wu Mangmang quickly selected a nearby tree. "I'm going up to check the situation. You find a place to hide, and fast."
Unfortunately, as soon as Wu Mangmang climbed the tree and looked down, she saw a red dot appear on Zhao Xinyun's chest.
"Dodge!" Wu Mangmang shouted.
But Zhao Xinyun's reaction was far too slow. Wu Mangmang watched helplessly as Zhao Xinyun was shot in the chest, convulsed, and collapsed.
Wu Mangmang immediately looked in the direction the shot had come from. Though she couldn't clearly see the face of the person in the tree opposite, her intuition told her it was Lu Sui.
Wu Mangmang couldn't help but curse inwardly, then watched as Lu Sui smoothly slid down from the tree using a rope.
The tree Wu Mangmang had chosen was a spruce, its branches and leaves offering little cover. Hanging there, she was practically a stationary target.
Wu Mangmang quickly hugged the tree and slid down, ignoring the skin scraped raw on her palms. She scrambled frantically downhill, not even caring which way she was going. The pursuers behind her didn’t seem to be in a hurry, but every time Wu Mangmang looked back, she could see Lu Sui following from a distance.
Having witnessed Lu Sui’s ruthless treatment of Zhao Xinyun earlier, Wu Mangmang dared not face him with any sense of luck. She felt Lu Sui was nothing like a gentleman like Shen Ting.
Now, Wu Mangmang believed Shen Ting was the kind of man who was a gentleman to the core, while Lu Sui was nothing more than a tyrant from an autocratic dynasty.
He killed without batting an eye.
The sound of bullets whizzing through the air came from behind, forcing Wu Mangmang to duck and dodge frantically. One bullet grazed past her cheek.
Wu Mangmang had no idea how far she had run or how many bullets Lu Sui had fired. She suspected he had brought the entire ammunition depot of Camp 3 with him.
Perhaps he had grown tired of toying with her like a dog. Wu Mangmang’s legs gave way as a bullet struck her calf, the pain so intense that tears immediately welled in her eyes. No wonder everyone fought so desperately to win—the agony of being hit by these bullets probably wasn’t much less than that of real bullets.
Wu Mangmang cursed inwardly. Were these rich people not afraid of dying from the pain, playing so realistically?
After the initial sharp pain, her calf began to go numb. The anger in Wu Mangmang’s heart was fully ignited by Lu Sui. Dragging her leg, she quickly rolled behind the nearest tree.
Wu Mangmang had originally thought Lu Sui was just toying with her. With his marksmanship, he couldn’t possibly miss a target as large as her. So, she had dashed around, letting him vent his anger, which she considered the best apology to His Majesty.
But it turned out she had been mistaken. Lu Sui had never intended to let her off.
Instead, he had been toying with her like a stray dog.
Steeling herself, Wu Mangmang drew her gun from her waist and fired blindly from behind the tree. She only needed to buy herself a little time—ten minutes later, the numbing effect would completely wear off.
Nearby, the rustling sound of fallen leaves being stepped on reached her ears. Wu Mangmang peeked out and saw Lu Sui was now only four or five meters away from her.
Wu Mangmang raised her gun and aimed at Lu Sui. “Don’t come any closer.”
The words were utterly useless. The next second, her hand was struck by Lu Sui’s bullet, and the gun clattered to the ground. Now, Wu Mangmang was effectively paralyzed on one side.
Lu Sui walked up to Wu Mangmang, crouched down, and used his gun to lift her chin, his attitude utterly flippant.
Wu Mangmang turned her head away. If she were a female warrior, she would have spat in the face of this capitalist.
But such crude behavior was beyond her acting abilities. She could only stiffen her neck and declare, “Kill me if you want. I won’t say anything, and I won’t agree to anything. I will never betray my comrades.”
Ignoring Wu Mangmang’s self-directed drama, Lu Sui untied the rope from his belt and bound her hands together.
“Lu Sui, what are you doing?” Wu Mangmang panicked.
“I’m tying up my prisoner,” Lu Sui replied.
As dusk fell, shadows outlined Lu Sui’s face into a handsome yet deadly devil. Nighttime always brought fear, especially in the silent mountains.
Wu Mangmang tried to relax herself and softened her voice. “I won’t run. I respect the rules of the game. I admit defeat as your prisoner. Could you please not tie my hands? It’s rubbing too painfully and will peel my skin.”
Lu Sui didn’t answer. Instead, he stood up and pulled the rope in his hand, forcing Wu Mangmang to her feet. If she hadn’t stood up, she would have fallen face-first into the dirt.Lu Sui walked ahead, holding a rope in his hand, while Wu Mangmang stumbled along behind him, much like a scene of walking a dog.
"Lu Sui, do you even know what gentlemanly manners are? If Auntie saw you treating a lady like this, she'd be so ashamed she'd want to die," Wu Mangmang shouted from behind him.
"For a woman who dumped me, why should I bother with gentlemanly manners?" Lu Sui retorted without even turning his head.
Wu Mangmang bit her lip. She knew men couldn't possibly not mind, especially someone like Lu Sui.
His pride definitely couldn't take it, which was why Wu Mangmang had been avoiding him all along.
"It wasn't that I dumped you—it's that I knew I wasn't good enough for you. You're drop-dead gorgeous, richer than a country, highly educated, and brilliant. I'm the one who doesn't measure up. I was afraid that when you eventually dumped me, I wouldn't be able to breathe, and it wouldn't be good if I ended up suicidal. That's why I spoke up first and broke up with you." Wu Mangmang's hand was genuinely hurting, she was tired and hungry, and especially thirsty. At this point, she couldn't care less about pride or face—she just wanted to find a cozy spot to lie down.
"Weren't you complaining that I was too old?" Lu Sui turned to look at Wu Mangmang.
Wu Mangmang shrugged. "That was just a lame excuse I made up. You're not old at all—these days, forty-five is considered middle-aged youth. You're the epitome of youth, in your prime. Plus, you take such good care of yourself, you look just like someone in their early twenties, with skin even more delicate than theirs. And your stamina is amazing—every day, three times a night, each session lasting over half an hour. When I told your friend, they didn't even believe me, saying, 'How is that possible?'"
"Which friend?" Lu Sui suddenly stopped, nearly causing Wu Mangmang to stumble.
Fortunately, it wasn't completely dark yet, and Wu Mangmang could vaguely see the anger on Lu Sui's face. She regretted adding unnecessary details, realizing she had overdone the flattery.
Based on Wu Mangmang's understanding of Lu Sui, as long as you sang his praises and hailed him as the eternal, unrivaled master of his domain, his anger would usually subside. But she had messed it up herself.
"I didn't know you had a hobby of discussing your ex's bedroom skills with your boyfriend," Lu Sui sneered.
"Ning Zheng isn't my boyfriend," Wu Mangmang quickly clarified. And besides, it wasn't Ning Zheng, right? But mentioning Shen Ting's name now clearly wasn't a wise move either.
"Oh..."
Before Lu Sui could say something even harsher, Wu Mangmang hurriedly added, "What you saw was Ning Zheng forcing a kiss on me. You must have seen my hand, right? If you guys hadn't shown up, I would have slapped him across the face."
"You don't need to explain these things to me," Lu Sui said indifferently, then turned and continued walking forward, his pace not slowing in the slightest, dragging Wu Mangmang along stumbling.
Wu Mangmang gritted her teeth. It seemed the path of admitting defeat, apologizing, and fawning was a dead end.
So she couldn't be bothered to pretend anymore. "Lu Sui, they say one night as husband and wife brings a hundred days of kindness. Earlier, I already had your heart in my sights, but I didn't shoot. Of course, what you do is your business—I'm not forcing you to go easy on me—but you don't have to treat me like a dog on a leash, do you?"
"I don't like keeping dogs," Lu Sui tossed back.
Stomping her feet was useless—Lu Sui was completely impervious to both soft and hard tactics. She decided to save her energy and stopped talking. However, she swore to herself that she would never speak another word to Lu Sui. This kind of man had no grace at all—she must have been blind back then.
By the time they reached Camp 3, it was almost completely dark. Since the Lightning Team had been mostly wiped out, the camp was empty.
Wu Mangmang looked at the adorable little cabin and nearly burst into tears—finally, she could sit down.
But then Lu Sui casually tied her to a pillar outside the cabin, limiting her range of movement to a circle with a three-meter diameter.Wu Mangmang watched helplessly as Lu Sui fetched water to wash his face and hands, drank water and ate dry rations, then lit an alcohol stove to boil water and cook noodles.
Wu Mangmang swallowed hard. Although she hadn’t drunk any water, her bladder had accumulated a day’s worth, and she was already struggling to hold it in.
She clenched her legs tightly, but some urges in life simply couldn’t be suppressed.
“I need to use the bathroom,” Wu Mangmang said to Lu Sui, her face flushed red from the effort.
“Number one or number two?” Lu Sui replied.
Wu Mangmang gritted her teeth. What kind of question was that?
But if she didn’t answer, Lu Sui wouldn’t move. Reluctantly, she forced out the word “one.”
Lu Sui untied her bound hands and led her into the wooden cabin.
“What are you doing?” Wu Mangmang asked, confused.
In places like this, makeshift toilets were usually built outside the cabin.
“Get into the sleeping bag,” Lu Sui ordered.
Wu Mangmang had no choice but to sit on the sleeping bag.
“Take off your shoes and pants,” Lu Sui commanded.
“Are you a pervert?!” Wu Mangmang snapped.
“Then hold it in. Or you can just wet the bed,” Lu Sui said coldly.
Fuming, Wu Mangmang took off her shoes, crawled into the sleeping bag, and threw her pants out. She lifted her chin defiantly, glaring at Lu Sui without saying a word.
Lu Sui tossed her a pair of disposable hotel slippers. “Go to the bathroom.”
Only then did Wu Mangmang realize he was preventing her from escaping.
She wanted to dash outside immediately, but she was only wearing a pair of black lace panties underneath, which made her feel a bit embarrassed.
Left with no other option, she took off her leather jacket and tied it around her waist to cover herself up.
As soon as she stepped into the bathroom, she heard Lu Sui’s voice from outside: “Keep singing, or I’ll come in.”
Wu Mangmang clenched her fists and banged her head in frustration. What sin had she committed in her past life to deserve this?
“Two tigers, two tigers, running fast…”
After relieving herself, she walked out and saw that Lu Sui wasn’t nearby at all. Instead, he was sitting at a small table outside the cabin, eating noodles.
Wu Mangmang swallowed hard again and noticed two bowls of noodles on the table. Without hesitation, she sat down.
“Did you wash your hands?” Lu Sui asked.
Blushing, Wu Mangmang jumped up and rushed outside to wash her hands.
“What brand of instant noodles are these? They’re really good,” she said, slurping down her bowl of noodles in no time.
Without a word, Lu Sui pushed his own bowl toward her.
Wu Mangmang wrestled with herself internally. Half a bowl of noodles wasn’t enough to satisfy her hunger, was it? Besides, she hadn’t eaten anything for a full day and night, and the pangs of hunger were unbearable.
And the noodles smelled incredibly tempting.
When she glanced at Lu Sui’s face, his expression clearly said, “If you don’t eat, you’ll regret it.” Wu Mangmang immediately lowered her head and started eating.
Fine, a sensible woman doesn’t fight with a man. Back when they were dating, she hadn’t exactly avoided his saliva—she’d even eaten his egg whites. What was a half-eaten bowl of instant noodles compared to that, right?
But if there was anyone in the world who could drive Wu Mangmang to the brink of madness, it was undoubtedly Lu Sui.
Just as she finished the noodles, she watched Lu Sui light the stove again, cook another bowl, and start eating it himself.
Wu Mangmang was already numb to it all.
As he ate, Lu Sui reached over to the thermos beside him, pulled out a box of milk warmed by the hot water, and handed it to Wu Mangmang.Wu Mangmang had no resistance to milk. Since her dignity was already trampled, she didn’t mind adding another blow.
She took small sips of the milk. "What do you want from me by capturing me?"
Lu Sui lifted his eyelids to glance at her. "What do you think you have that’s worth me asking for?"
Wu Mangmang thought for a moment and had to admit there was some truth to his words. Her only advantage was her beauty, but even that had already been taken by Lu Sui.
"Why don’t you just kill me?" she said. That way, she could leave this damned battlefield and sleep on the soft hotel bed.
"I usually don’t like my opponents to die too easily," Lu Sui replied.
Wu Mangmang nearly choked again and could only whisper, "I want to wash up."
"Wait a moment," Lu Sui stood up.
Wu Mangmang watched him busily prepare two large basins of warm water and place clean towels inside. "Wash up. I’ll go take a look outside."
It was a tactic of slapping someone and then offering a sweet date, but Wu Mangmang found her anger dissipating without a fight.
After washing her face, rinsing her mouth, wiping her body, and washing her feet, she felt completely refreshed.
Once she finished, she crawled into the sleeping bag and lay down to sleep. She fell asleep quickly, but it was only a light slumber at first. In her dream, she felt something burning and jolted awake, screaming as she tried to sit up. "Lu Sui, what are you doing?!"
Unfortunately, Wu Mangmang couldn’t sit up because someone was pressing her down.
The searing sensation on her skin told her that Lu Sui, this scoundrel, wasn’t wearing a single piece of clothing.
