Coming to Myself

Chapter 65

"So, this book signing event is quite large-scale, the organizers are very influential, and the penalty for breach of contract is quite high. If possible, I hope you can attend," Chen Feng said methodically. "Moreover, the chief physician mentioned that engaging in activities related to your past could help restore your memory."

As he spoke, Yin Feng was lying on the sofa, chewing a big bubble gum. He blew a small bubble that popped with a "pop." His bare feet were propped against You Mingxu's waist at the other end.

You Mingxu was looking down at her phone, ignoring him.

Chen Feng smiled as he watched them. Recently, Teacher Yin and his beloved Miss You seemed to have grown closer.

Although the old Yin Feng would likely have looked down on You Mingxu, since this was the current Yin Feng, Chen Feng hoped he could get what he wanted—the woman he desired.

Clearing his throat lightly, Chen Feng interrupted Yin Feng's playful antics and said, "I hope you'll attend the book signing the day after tomorrow. Many of your readers have been looking forward to it for a long time."

Yin Feng chewed his bubble gum and said, "But I don't know what to do."

Chen Feng replied, "I'll arrange everything. You just need to show up and follow instructions. Miss You, would you like to attend Teacher Yin's book signing? I can reserve front-row tickets for you."

Yin Feng immediately looked at You Mingxu. You Mingxu had never attended such an event before and was a bit curious. Seeing Yin Feng's puppy-like, eager gaze, she thought it might be good for his recovery. She smiled and nodded, "Sure."

Chen Feng immediately showed a satisfied smile: the matter was settled. Sure enough, Yin Feng immediately moved closer to You Mingxu, his face almost touching hers. Chen Feng, sharp-eyed as ever, noticed You Mingxu subtly leaning back, while the clueless writer Yin remained close. Chen Feng sighed softly to himself.

Yin Feng said, "A Xu, on the day of the book signing, can you stay by my side the whole time?"

"No."

"That probably wouldn't be appropriate."

Seeing both of them object, Yin Feng puffed out a breath in frustration, looking dejected. Slowly, he reached his hand behind You Mingxu and pinched her waist as compensation. You Mingxu didn't even raise an eyebrow, as if she'd been tickled by a small insect.

Chen Feng pretended not to see and smiled, "By the way, the signature segment of every book signing is a talent performance for the fans. Although you've lost your memory, your skills should still be there. Would you like to perform on the piano or the saxophone?"

This made You Mingxu glance at Yin Feng. He actually knew so much. He really was a well-deserved talented scholar.

Yin Feng, however, looked completely blank. He frowned in thought for a moment and said, "I'm not interested in those anymore. Can I perform a different talent?"

Chen Feng asked, "Such as?"

Yin Feng's expression relaxed, "I can imitate animals." He then turned to You Mingxu, a sweet smile curling at the corner of his mouth, "Woof! Woof, woof—"

You Mingxu and Chen Feng both fell silent for a few seconds.

You Mingxu said, "Play the piano!"

Chen Feng replied, "Understood!"

Early the next morning, before dawn and while Yin Feng was still in bed, You Mingxu went out.

As she passed his door, she glanced inside. Sure enough, he was sprawled out like a frog, limbs splayed, half the blanket fallen to the floor, his handsome face buried haphazardly in the pillow, sleeping soundly. The two intense, entangled kisses flashed through You Mingxu's mind, along with his recent sneaky little attempts to cop a feel.

Before she realized it, the corners of her mouth had curved upward.

Then she froze, the smile vanishing as she slipped away silently.

She hailed a taxi and headed straight for her destination. When she reached the entrance of the alley, the sky was still dark. Xu Mengshan was already waiting there with two colleagues.

You Mingxu nodded in acknowledgment. "I owe you one for this."

Xu Mengshan grinned, while the other two quickly replied, "Not at all, Sister You always has our backs."

You Mingxu gave a faint smile and asked Xu Mengshan, "Has he come out yet?"

Xu Mengshan answered, "Should be soon." He glanced up at the surveillance camera at the alley entrance, and You Mingxu followed his gaze.

On the other end of the camera, Fan Jia sat in front of a computer screen, hugging a pillow. She picked up her phone and sent a voice message: "Don't worry, I'll turn it off in a few minutes."

As dawn began to break, three people emerged from a house in the alley. You Mingxu stood with her arms crossed, leaning against the wall, watching them approach.

Luo Yu had rushed overnight to a client's home to prepare for a case. After staying up all night, he was exhausted. When he looked up and saw the figure waiting for him, he was startled.

Then Luo Yu smiled lazily. "What brings you here to see me?"

You Mingxu walked straight toward him. At the same time, two people stepped out from behind her and showed their badges to Luo Yu's subordinates. "We're conducting an operation in the area. Cooperate with us, please."

The two subordinates protested, "What's this? Are the police just arresting people randomly?"

"We're not arresting you. We're after a thief. Just a few questions. What, not willing to cooperate?"

Luo Yu said, "It's fine. Go with them and cooperate fully with the officers. I need a moment alone with my wife."

You Mingxu's expression remained impassive.

Once the others had left, Luo Yu stared at her. He had been busy lately and hadn't visited her for several days. The news he'd received about her hadn't been good—she had solved another case, moving further along her path of justice. She had been spending a lot of time with that fool, their relationship growing closer...

Luo Yu was quite familiar with how this seemingly cold woman behaved around men. Her dark, long hair would cascade freely, her half-smile would tease and unsettle you, and she could see through all your sincerity and pretense. Yet her heart was actually tender—otherwise, she wouldn't have allowed him to slowly draw closer during his relentless pursuit. She had even used those crimson lips to gently kiss his forehead, her delicate fingers carrying a casual, smoky femininity that could leave you dazed.

If she had discovered his true nature a little later, if she had truly given herself to him and fallen into the web of affection he had woven, would everything have been different? Even if she later refused to be with him, wouldn't she still love him? That way, wouldn't he have been able to control this woman? To make this untamed eagle soar only within the palm of his hand.

Luo Yu felt deeply frustrated, but he showed none of it on his face. His voice was low as he asked, "What do you want to talk to me about? How is that fool? I heard he was scared to tears? My people don't know how to hold back. But if I see him by your side again, it won't be as simple as just letting him play in the water."

You Mingxu lifted her head, her gaze as deep and unruffled as a still abyss. "Oh? So you already know I came here because of him."Luo Yu burst into laughter, wild and arrogant, as if she had told the biggest joke. When he finally stopped laughing, You Mingxu’s expression remained indifferent. Luo Yu said, “What, are you here to avenge him? You’re just a small-time cop, and I’m a renowned lawyer. What can you possibly do to me? Hahaha…”

You Mingxu smiled faintly. “Beat you up.”

Luo Yu’s eyes, still holding a trace of amusement, widened slightly in surprise.

Ten minutes later.

You Mingxu wrapped a rubber band around her hand, tied her loose long hair back into a ponytail, and rubbed her slightly reddened fist. She glanced back at the man lying on the ground behind her, let out a soft laugh, and gestured to Xu Mengshan and the others waiting at the alley entrance. They immediately released the two subordinates who had been “questioned,” and the group drove away.

It took Luo Yu a great deal of effort to stagger to his feet. When his two subordinates saw him, they were startled and rushed over to help. With a grim expression, he shoved them away, then immediately withdrew his hand to cover his still-bleeding nose. The subordinates stared at his bruised and swollen face, too stunned to speak.

Though every part of his body ached as if it were about to split apart, Luo Yu stumbled a few steps and let out a low, hoarse chuckle.

Just then, his phone rang—a video call. Luo Yu glanced at it and hung up immediately. The caller tried again, and this time he answered.

The person on the screen studied Luo Yu for a moment and laughed. “Rare sight. Who managed to beat you up?”

Luo Yu snapped, “Spit it out if you have something to say.”

The man leaned forward, closer to the screen. “I heard you’ve been failing to win over You Mingxu and can’t complete the mission. Why not let me take over? I’ll get it done sooner.”

Luo Yu’s voice turned icy. “I’ll only say this once: Stay away from her.”
