Coming to Myself

Chapter 64

You Mingxu lowered her head as she walked through the door, almost immediately hearing footsteps coming from someone's room. Without even glancing over, she went straight to the coffee table, poured herself a glass of water, and drank it. She had smoked several cigarettes in a row earlier, and now her throat was parched.

Yin Feng ran up behind her, watching her intently. You Mingxu muttered to herself, "Work was exhausting today. I'm going to rest for a bit—don't disturb me."

Her arm was grabbed.

You Mingxu's heart skipped a beat, and she felt another wave of regret. She calmly looked up to see Yin Feng in a T-shirt and shorts, his tall frame clean and spotless from head to toe, as if he hadn't stepped out all day. His eyes sparkled, a look of barely suppressed joy on his face.

The weight in You Mingxu's heart grew heavier, silently adding another layer.

She smiled. "What is it?" When it came to playing dumb, she was a pro.

Yin Feng, however, didn't catch the indifference in her tone. He grinned, beaming with happiness. "You're back."

You Mingxu's temple twitched again.

"Yeah," she said flatly. "I'm going to my room."

Even with his currently dulled emotional intelligence, Yin Feng could tell she was a completely different person from the fragrant, soft, yet fierce woman of the previous night. He froze for a moment, then stopped her again just as she was about to enter her room. "I... we..."

You Mingxu lifted her head, feigning nonchalance. "We? What about us?"

"You kissed me," Yin Feng said, his brow slightly furrowed, his eyes bright. "And I kissed you. Many times. From now on... A Xu is mine." As he finished speaking, a blush spread across his handsome face.

You Mingxu thought to herself, But I don't want to own up to it. Yet, influenced by his innocent demeanor, she couldn't help but feel a little flustered. She maintained a natural expression and said with a laugh, "Who taught you all this nonsense? What are you talking about?"

Yin Feng was taken aback. You Mingxu had already walked over to the sofa and sat down, patting the spot beside her. "Come here. Let me explain something to you."

Yin Feng came over and sat down, resting his arms on his knees and interlacing his fingers. The smile had vanished from his face. You Mingxu knew he was a little upset, but she had no choice—she had to make him move past last night's events, even if it meant forcing the issue.

"Young," You Mingxu began.

He interrupted her. "Call me Handsome." His tone was a bit sharp and cold. He actually sounded like a man with a temper now.

You Mingxu paused. "Alright, Handsome. Let me ask you, aren't we good friends?"

He nodded.

"And in your heart, haven't you always seen me as an older sister?"

He nodded again but immediately hesitated, shook his head, and pressed his lips together.

Ignoring his reaction, You Mingxu smiled and continued, "You've lost your memory, hit your head, and you're not fully recovered yet. There are some things you don't understand, so you're jumping to conclusions. Sometimes, when a man and a woman kiss, it doesn't mean they're in a romantic relationship or planning to get married. It can just mean they're very close. Let me ask you, aren't we close? Am I not your best friend?" As she spoke, even You Mingxu herself felt a twinge of shame at her own audacity.

He kept his lips pressed together, looking away from her. After a moment, he let out a reluctant "Mm."

You Mingxu thought to herself, Damn it, I'm clearly trying to distance myself from him, so why does it feel like I'm forcing an innocent into something shady? She continued, "So, don't think we're dating just because of one kiss. It puts me in a difficult position. I kissed you yesterday only because... because I wanted to reward you, to thank you. It was just a reward."

Yin Feng asked doubtfully, "A reward?"

You Mingxu nodded, "Because you helped me solve the case and catch two killers."

Yin Feng fell silent for a moment, then turned to look at her, his gaze clear yet puzzled. "A Xu, is that really... the truth?"

For a moment, You Mingxu felt a pang of guilt. She was actually feeling guilty under the gaze of this half-fool. But she was always good at guarding herself, and her tone turned indifferent. "Of course it's true. Why would I lie to you? Otherwise, why would I kiss you? There's no other reason, right?"

His two dark eyebrows furrowed slightly. He said, "Oh, so that's how it is." But You Mingxu felt his voice couldn't have been any lower.

Yet she couldn't afford to soften.

She patted his shoulder and was about to stand up and leave when he asked again, "Then what about Xu Mengshan and the other guys at the police station? If you're happy and want to reward them, would you kiss them too?"

You Mingxu's heart thudded, and a chilling thought rushed into her mind—Them? How could I ever bring myself to kiss them!! But she kept a straight face and shamelessly replied, "Yes, I would."

Yin Feng remained motionless, his expression blank. After a few seconds, he suddenly slammed his fist heavily on the coffee table, his lips pressed tightly together, staring off to the side and refusing to look at her.

The atmosphere inexplicably grew tense. You Mingxu could feel a faint, stifling air. For some reason, she also felt a bit upset and simply didn't want to stay with him anymore. She stood up, intending to return to her room, but he rose as well and asked, "Is there a reward today?"

You Mingxu was taken aback and hadn't yet reacted when his breath drew close to her ear from behind. In the same clear voice, tinged with a hint of grievance, he said, "I behaved very well today too. I didn't go out, didn't disturb you at work, and didn't let last night's incident upset me or make you worry. I've been waiting for you all day, and you haven't rewarded me yet. Also, have you rewarded anyone else today?"

You Mingxu felt her heart tremble several times in response to his seamless accusations.

"Of course not. I..." She was about to say that rewards weren't so easily given, hoping to brush him off. But then she saw his face, so close to hers, suddenly break into a bright smile.

"As long as there's no one else," he murmured, leaning in to kiss her.

Damn...

Once again, that fresh, gentle, and seductive scent captured her lips. You Mingxu wanted to push him away, but deep down, she was strangely reluctant to let go. In that moment of hesitation, Yin Feng had already pinned her against the wall. A soft sigh escaped You Mingxu's lips, causing his eyes to close even tighter. Just like last night, like a half-finished bottle of fine wine, he began to indulge freely. Every time You Mingxu tried to resist, he countered with a more intense assault. The same hazy, disoriented feeling from the previous night washed over her once again, and she felt a faint urge to let go.

His hands, which had initially been wrapped around her waist, gradually—whether by instinct or some innate knowledge—began to trail upward along the curve of her waist.Much later, they ended up sliding down to the floor. She was sitting on his lap, their clothes crumpled and disheveled. Her long hair was tousled, her eyes seductive as silk, while his face and eyes were flushed red. He frowned slightly, still wearing an expression of unresolved ache.

His hand had already slipped inside her clothes. Her bra was undone, and some tender spots had been pinched sore. After she regained her composure and stopped him, his hand finally refrained from venturing further upward. Instead, it rested on the incredibly smooth skin of her waist, gripping tightly.

You Mingxu broke free from his embrace, straightened her hair and clothes, and walked into the room without a word. Yin Feng remained sitting on the floor for a long while before leaning back to lie down. Closing his eyes, he smiled. He lay there alone, laughing to himself for a long time.
