Chapter 60

Chapter 58: The Class Monitor is Dismissed

Upon returning to the dorm, Ruan Yu’s first task was to search for information about the Red Eagle Street Dance Competition. However, street dance remained a niche culture with limited public interest, and the retrievable online information was sparse.

After browsing through the results, she only managed to remember the names of a few past champions.

"Ruan Ruan, where did you go this afternoon?" Chen Manbai brought over a box of cherry tomatoes and placed them on Ruan Yu’s desk, signaling everyone to help themselves.

"I had some business to take care of," Ruan Yu replied vaguely. She didn’t mention You Lexuan’s provocation or Teng Yi.

"You have no idea—after you left, the homeroom teacher gave You Lexuan a serious scolding. Turns out, it wasn’t just us; many others in the class were also forced into participating by her. Once the teacher started asking questions, the grievances all came pouring out. The scene was like something out of an ancient drama where corrupt officials get overthrown," Chen Manbai recounted vividly.

"What happened in the end?"

"Her position as class monitor was revoked," Xia Qiaofeng answered.

"So now the class is leaderless?"

"Not at all. The vice monitor got promoted."

"Wang Jing?"

"Yep." Chen Manbai burst into laughter. "Wang Jing was still broadcasting encouragement messages at the radio station, completely unaware. He became class monitor out of nowhere—a classic case of 'sitting at home while an official title falls from the sky.'"

"You Lexuan must be furious. What if she tries to get back at us later?" Jian Xiangxiang sounded uneasy.

"Why should we be afraid of her?" Chen Manbai popped a bright red cherry tomato into her mouth. "Our dorm has Ruan Ruan for brains and me for brawn. Do you really think we can’t handle a deposed class monitor?"

"Good point. We owe it all to Ruan Ruan for coming up with that idea—otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to deal with You Lexuan so easily." Jian Xiangxiang picked up a cherry tomato and held it to Ruan Yu’s lips. "Here, say 'ah.'"

Ruan Yu took the tomato into her mouth, its sweet and tangy flavor instantly flooding her taste buds.

"By the way, Ruan Ruan, what’s your relationship with that Han Zuo guy?" Jian Xiangxiang suddenly changed the subject.

Chen Manbai and Xia Qiaofeng’s gossip instincts flared up simultaneously, and they both turned their eyes to Ruan Yu.

"There is no relationship," Ruan Yu stated firmly.

They truly had no connection—just two strangers who had met for the first time.

"No way! The way he rushed over and hugged you made it seem like you’ve known each other forever." Jian Xiangxiang nudged Xia Qiaofeng. "Right, Qiaofeng?"

Xia Qiaofeng nodded.

At the time, the two of them had been standing right next to Han Zuo and saw everything clearly.

"Maybe he’s just a kind-hearted person, okay?"

"Sure, sure." Jian Xiangxiang smirked mischievously. "Even if you didn’t know each other before, you do now. Since he helped us out so much, shouldn’t we properly thank him?"

"I suggest you drop that idea and let this matter fade away," Ruan Yu said as she took off her jacket, preparing to shower.

"Why?"

"Because the homeroom teacher is his uncle."

"What?!" The three of them gasped in unison.

"So, if we keep pushing this, it won’t end well for us." Ruan Yu grabbed her pajamas and headed toward the bathroom, tossing a warning over her shoulder. "From now on, steer clear of him if you see him. Don’t bring trouble upon yourselves."

"Ugh, and here we were hoping to set you two up," Jian Xiangxiang sighed in disappointment. "You have no idea—when he carried you and ran like that, it was straight out of an idol drama. You two looked perfect together.""As long as it's a guy standing next to you, you think he's a match."

"Well, not Wang Jing. I don't think he's a match."

"Don't bring him up for no reason. Did he do anything to you?"

"I'm just making a comparison to show that I do have standards when it comes to who’s good enough for you. A girl as wonderful as you deserves someone like Han Zuo or Teng Yi—only the handsome ones!"

Teng Yi…

Ruan Yu remembered the secret he had shared with her earlier that day. He didn’t have to tell her so much, but he did it just to comfort her.

How could he be so kind?

So kind that even if it meant her downfall, she still wanted to like him.

"Why are you just standing there spacing out?" Jian Xiangxiang asked.

Snapping out of her thoughts, Ruan Yu hurried into the bathroom.

"I'm going to shower."
