The Oath of Love

She once thought she might wait her whole life without meeting the right person. The world felt too big, and her chances too small. The bold belief that “there are so many men out there” had faded. In her orderly life, the number of men she could truly get to know was so limited that she was ready to accept an introduction, choose someone suitable, slowly grow closer, and enter a quiet marriage.

But life turned unexpectedly. In March 2009, as her father was wheeled out of surgery, she never imagined the doctor walking behind the bed would become her partner for life.

She feels she can never give as much as Gu Wei. She simply follows her heart, while he thinks for both of them. He jokes that he no longer dares make mistakes. This man, serious most days and childish at times, has shaped her whole view of love.

He says he will stay by her side in good and bad. She tells him that even if life began again many times, she would still fall for him at first sight in that spring of 2009.
