Сhоked by hеr wоrds, Yin Gеzhi wаs аt a loss for а rеply аnd could оnlу wаtсh соldly as shе walked toward the cоurtуard gаte.
"Whеrе аrе yоu gоing, miss?" Guаn Zhi, саrrying а tray of dishеs, bumрed intо her as he еntered. Нe toоk оnе lооk аt Fеng Yue's eхрressiоn аnd wаs startlеd.
"Arе уour hands stеаdy еnough to hold thе tray?" Feng Yuе stорpеd and asked him with а twistеd smilе.
Guan Zhi nоddеd. "Vеrу stеаdy, I рrоmise nоthing will spill!"
"Тhat's goоd." Nodding, Fеng Yuе еxtеndеd bоth сlaws, grabbed his bеlt, and began to untie it slоwly. Oncе it was undonе, she bit оntо his outеr robe and tugged!
"Hey, hey, hey!" Guan Zhi was dumbfounded and instinctively helped her remove the robe. "Miss?"
"Thanks." She flashed him a toothy grin, wrapped herself in the robe, and calmly walked past him out of the courtyard gate.
Looking down at himself and then at the charming figure haphazardly wrapped in a man's robe, Guan Zhi was utterly bewildered.
Full of confusion, he entered the main room and saw his master's face as dark as water, his eyes filled with malice.
"What's going on?" Guan Zhi set down the tray and asked, "Did you scold someone again?"
"Me, scold?" Yin Gezhi sneered, the lines of his face as cold and hard as iron. "She behaves so improperly, and I'm not allowed to say anything?"
"Master," Guan Zhi sighed and advised, "You can say something, but your words are always so direct and hurtful. After all, Miss Feng Yue got up early this morning to teach me how to cook for you. Look, it's all your favorite dishes."
Four small dishes and a bowl of green bean porridge—completely different from what Guan Zhi had made before. He hadn't paid attention earlier, but now, looking at it, he was truly hungry.
"Did you tell her to make these?" Yin Gezhi's lips twitched as he asked sideways.
Guan Zhi shook his head. "I didn't say anything. Miss Feng Yue suggested these dishes herself."
His hand, holding the chopsticks, paused. Yin Gezhi narrowed his eyes.
She really knew him well.
Slowly enjoying his breakfast, Yin Gezhi's frown smoothed out, and he was in a surprisingly good mood.
"Send something to Dream Return Pavilion," Yin Gezhi said, looking disdainfully at the leftovers on the table. "After all, she spent the night here. It would seem stingy not to give anything."
"Yes." Guan Zhi bowed.
Dream Return Pavilion.
Feng Yue had just crawled through the dog hole when she saw a pair of men's legs standing in front of her—a pair of legs with trousers pooled around the ankles.
"Ah!"
As if seeing Feng Yue, Duanxian, who was with the man, let out a scream, startling the man so much that he stumbled backward several steps while holding her.
"What are you doing!" Recognizing her, Duanxian roared angrily.
Looking up at the sun hanging in the sky and then at the embracing couple in front of her, Feng Yue stood up, covering her mouth with a smile. "Sorry to disturb you."
Then, wrapping herself in the robe, she rushed into the building.
Duanxian gritted her teeth, glaring fiercely at Feng Yue's retreating figure before biting her lip and looking at the man in front of her. "Sir, shall we continue?"
How could they continue? Pushing her away, the burly patron pulled up his trousers and glanced several times in the direction Feng Yue had run. "Who was that?"
"A newly listed girl in the pavilion," Duanxian said, her tone resentful as she adjusted her robe. "The one who danced naked and threw herself into someone's arms."
"Oh?" The patron grew interested. "She looks exceptionally charming."With that, she followed him into the building.
Duanxian panicked. This guest was a generous one—how could she just let him slip away?
"Sir!" she cooed, wrapping herself around him. "You haven't had enough fun with me yet. You can deal with her later—she won't run away."
Feeling the softness against his back, the patron halted his steps. After a moment's thought, he decided to first pin this seductress against the artificial rockery.
Having finally changed clothes and caught her breath, Feng Yue hadn't even had time to lie down when the door was kicked open with a loud crash.
Lingshu frowned, looking at Duanxian standing in the doorway, and said unhappily, "What are you doing here with such an aggressive attitude?"
"What am I doing?" Duanxian gave a forced smile, raising her wrist to stroke the gold bracelet on it, and glanced sideways at Feng Yue. "I'm not doing anything. I just wanted to ask Miss Feng Yue if this bracelet looks good or not."
Sitting down leisurely on the soft couch, Feng Yue smiled and nodded. "It looks good—shimmering and dazzling. It must be very valuable."
This indifferent attitude was more infuriating than anything! Duanxian gritted her teeth and said angrily, "No matter how good it looks, it's mine. If anyone tries to snatch it through underhanded means, don't blame me for being rude!"
"Who cares about a bracelet?" Lingshu said unhappily. "My mistress has plenty of her own."
"Does your mistress have any?" Duanxian sneered at Lingshu and snorted. "A lowly thing like her, what great person would appreciate her? Don't think you're something special just because someone booked the whole place. The rewards you get are so meager, they won't even cover your funeral expenses in the future!"
"Thank you for the reminder," Feng Yue said with a serious expression. "I will definitely save up for my funeral expenses."
Her respectful, student-like demeanor only made Duanxian angrier. She opened her mouth but couldn't think of anything else to say, so she stomped downstairs in a huff.
Downstairs in the main hall, a few early-rising girls were sitting around. As soon as Duanxian descended, they huddled together, whispering and occasionally glancing toward Feng Yue's room upstairs.
"Mistress!" Lingshu, being simple-minded, couldn't hold back her anger and stomped her foot. "How can they bully people like this?"
Feng Yue was very fond of Lingshu and beckoned her over. "Come here, dear."
The fresh-faced little girl approached her, and Feng Yue raised her stiff hand to tease her. "Those who bully others are bad girls. Let's ignore them! Later, I'll give you some silver. You can buy some mung bean cakes, and we'll hide away and eat them, okay?"
Lingshu bit her lip, her big eyes welling with tears. "That sounds good, but Mistress, I just fixed my hair! If you keep touching it like this, it'll get all messy!"
Feng Yue giggled and didn't stop, acting like a big, sly wolf. "It's not messy, not messy at all. Lingshu looks beautiful no matter what."
As she spoke, she even nuzzled her chin against the girl's hair bun.
Lingshu squealed and jumped around the room, finally forgetting the earlier unpleasantness. Feng Yue watched her with a smile, her eyes full of affection.
"Feng Yue!" Mama Jin's shout traveled from the main entrance of Dream Return Pavilion straight to Feng Yue's door, loud enough to pierce the heavens and startle Feng Yue so much she nearly rolled off the soft couch.
"Come down here, now!"
Everyone in the building heard the shout, and the gossiping girls in the main hall craned their necks with gleeful anticipation.
What trouble had she gotten into this time?Holding her arm up as she went downstairs, Feng Yue’s heart pounded wildly, fearing that someone had stabbed her in the back.
However, when she rushed to the entrance, she saw Mama Jin’s face blooming like a chrysanthemum in full smile. “Come quickly and thank him!”
What? Feng Yue turned her head and saw Guan Zhi standing at the door, smiling at her with a long knife on his back, and beside him were four carrying poles of gift boxes.
Four carrying poles?!
The poles were tied with red silk, looking just like betrothal gifts. The brocade boxes, large and small, were packed full—in the common folk, this was exactly the standard for betrothal gifts!
