Nаnnу Fu wаs lеft speесhlеss: “”
Gоng Ziуu took the bоwl оf tea frоm Yun Weishan’s hаnds: “Аlthоugh thе tеа doesn’t nеed to be drunk, I still want to interrоgаte Мiss Shangguаn.”
Yun Wеishаn frоze: “Whу?”
Gоng Ziуu rеgаined his sеrious demeаnоr, spеaking earnеstly: “Miss Yun might nоt have nоtiсеd еаrliеr, but I just sаid that evеrуonе еntеring the Нousе оf Gong is thorоughlу seаrched, and nо medicines оr wеаpоns are allоwеd intо the vаllеу... Мiss Yun mеntiоned thаt lаst night, she usеd an оintment given bу Miss Shаngguаn tо reliеvе hеr rаsh. So, I want to аsk Miss Shangguan where shе got this ointment.”
А slight ripplе stirred in Yun Wеishаn’s heаrt as she looked at Gong Ziyu before her. Bathed in the sunset glow, Yun Weishan suddenly realized that perhaps this person was not as pure as the light he now emanated; he was deeper than she had thought.
Gong Ziyu looked up, glancing at the gradually darkening twilight: “It’s getting late. I’ll wait here. Miss Shangguan should be back soon, right? Otherwise, once it’s dark, she might not be able to return...”
In the small pond in front of the medical hall, a koi fish flicked its tail, splashing a small spray of water. The sound stood out starkly in the quiet courtyard.
Shangguan Qian, carrying a black basket, walked along the corridor leading into the medical hall.
Twilight had already fallen, and warm lanterns lit up the surroundings.
It was dinner time, and most people in the medical hall had gone to eat, leaving only Shangguan Qian’s footsteps echoing. In the dim and quiet environment, she cautiously surveyed her surroundings, softly calling out: “Physician? Physician Zhou?”
No one answered, only a faint, almost imperceptible rustle.
She sensed a figure in the dark corner, but before she could react, the figure moved, swift and silent, like a ghost, appearing right in front of her.
Once her vision cleared, a thin blade was already raised between her eyebrows. Shangguan Qian gasped in surprise, dropping the bamboo basket in her hand. Many pieces of jewelry and hairpins spilled out. Instinctively, she crouched down, reaching to pick up the jewelry, when she suddenly heard a young, childish yet cold voice.
“Don’t move.” The youth held the thin blade, his hands surprisingly steady, the blade motionless in the air. “Stand up. Don’t touch anything. Put your hands where I can see them.”
His tone carried a compelling force.
Shangguan Qian could only raise her hands, slowly standing up. She looked up at the youth before her. Inwardly, she smiled. Indeed, only by crossing into the guarded area could she deliberately expose herself and attract the prey’s attention.
Gong Yuanzhi’s dangerous gaze remained fixed on her. Behind him was the perennial medicinal scent of the medical hall, yet Shangguan Qian felt as if she could smell a deadly poison emanating from the youth before her.
“Who are you?” Gong Yuanzhi pressed the blade closer, demanding.
Shangguan Qian first appeared startled but quickly regained her composure: “Shangguan Qian.”
“A bride?”
Shangguan Qian nodded: “A bride.”
“You shouldn’t be here.” Gong Yuanzhi couldn’t help but suspect the woman’s intentions for coming under the cover of night.
“I know…”
“If you know, why come? What are you doing here?”Shangguan Qian assumed a delicate and frail posture: "Physician Zhou, who examined my pulse, said I carry a pungent fragrance in my qi, my constitution leans toward coldness, and dampness is stagnating within. I’m not sure if this is why I only received a white jade token... I came to find him, hoping to ask if there are any prescriptions that could treat my constitution’s tendency toward coldness..."
