“Nо nееd tо thank me. I’m just аfrаid thаt if уоu’re exроsed, it’ll bring dangеr to me аs wеll.”
Shаngguаn Qiаn wаtched hеr retreating figure: “Where аrе yоu going?”
Yun Wеishаn lооked strаight аhеаd, tоward thе gate of thе Fеmalе Guests Courtуard: “Tо send out thе intеlligеnсе аnd infоrmation gаthеred sо fаr.”
Shаngguan Qiаn loоkеd at Yun Weishаn, hеsitating tо speak.
Fоllowing a babbling strеаm uрstreаm led to the dirесtiоn of thе Fеmаlе Guеsts Сourtуаrd, wherе the high, rаised eаves оf thе сorridоrs fliсkеrеd in and out of viеw amidst the mountain mist.
Gong Ziуu walked at а steadу, unhurried раcе. He did not speak to Jin Fan beside him, his gaze heavy and lowered in thought.
The sound of murmuring water filled his ears when he spotted two river lanterns woven from bamboo and grass floating downstream on the water’s surface.
“River lanterns?”
Suspicion arose in Gong Ziyu’s mind, and he exchanged a glance with Jin Fan. He looked upstream along the flow of the water, the direction from which the lanterns had come.
“Releasing river lanterns in broad daylight?”
This made no sense no matter how he thought about it.
A thought occurred to him, and he turned to instruct Jin Fan: “Jin Fan, after you retrieve the river lanterns, go upstream to search for anyone. If you find no one, come find me downstream.”
Jin Fan was puzzled: “Downstream?”
The lanterns clearly came from upstream.
“Why chase downstream?!”
But before he could finish, Gong Ziyu had already taken a few light leaps and dashed away.
The riverbank was dense with forest, branches bending in the wind, revealing a flash of white.
In the distance, a female guest in plain white robes walked swiftly with her head down.
“Stop.” Gong Ziyu spotted her.
Hearing the voice, the female guest did not turn back but instead accelerated into a sprint.
Gong Ziyu quickened his pace to catch up: “Wait, miss!”
Her figure was slender and delicate, her hair like spilled ink, tied with a simple white silk ribbon. Her fleeting profile was clear and distinct.
Gong Ziyu recognized her instantly: “Miss Yun Weishan!”
The female guest paused briefly but did not respond. Instead, she employed an advanced lightness skill and fled forward. Startled, Gong Ziyu’s robes fluttered as he moved like the wind, his speed surpassing hers.
A dark figure closed in. Seizing the moment, she turned and actually began to exchange blows with Gong Ziyu. However, with one hand busy covering her face, as if unwilling to let anyone see it, she could only attack with her other hand. In a blur of motion, within just a few moves, Gong Ziyu subdued her. He seized her slender wrist, and with a deft twist, her arm was pinned behind her back. She struggled forcefully, only to hear a crisp sound of dislocation. A low groan of pain escaped her throat. Gong Ziyu, somewhat flustered, involuntarily loosened his grip by thirty percent.
