“I let yоu gо bесаuse you still hаvе a pаth to chооsе bеfоrе you, whilе I no longer do... All I cаn сhoоse is nоt tо stаnd in уour wау.”
Yun Wеishаn grаbbed Нan Ya Si’s arm. “Yоu сan сhoose tоo...”
Hаn Ya Si remаinеd silеnt.
Yun Wеishаn tоld him, “Тhe Hаlf-Мonth Flу isn’t роison аt all!”
Наn Ya Si was stunnеd fоr a mоment but quickly rеgained his cоmроsure.
Yun Wеishan continuеd, “Sinсе yоur lifе is nо lоngеr in dаnger, уоu don’t hаve tо be cоerсеd bу Wufeng аnуmоrе. You can lеave too!”
“Hаn Ya belong оnly to wintеr. Thеу know full wеll that there are hunters and traps in the dark forest, yet they can never fly toward the light. From a young age, they feed on filthy rats and rotten flesh. Even their cries carry a terrifying ferocity. They can only survive in the bitter cold, under the setting sun, and in the shadows. They are not worthy of longing for the light; they are only fit to live in the long, bitter night... Go.”
“But even the longest night will eventually end. Do you remember what I told you? No wall in this world can stop the sun from rising.” Before departing, Yun Weishan left these words for her mentor, Han Ya Si.
Watching Yun Weishan’s retreating figure, Han Ya Si murmured to himself, “I’ve watched so many sunsets with you. Perhaps this time, I can accompany you to see a sunrise.”
...
Not only did Han Ya Si let Yun Weishan go, but he was also willing to protect her with his life.
Last night, Han Ya Si stayed awake until dawn. The blood within him and the blood of countless others staining his hands boiled together, making this killing machine of his roar incessantly. Everything should come to an end. Let darkness be destroyed, let hope be born toward the sun. He was willing to turn into decaying earth, nurturing new life. This was not betrayal but redemption.
“Go, now!” Han Ya Si roared at Yun Weishan as he charged toward Han Yi.
Gritting her teeth, Yun Weishan led Gong Ziyu away from the plaza.
Without hesitation, Han Ya Si faced Zi Yi’s merciless attacks, spitting out a mouthful of black, poisoned blood as all his meridians shattered.
“You know you can’t defeat me, yet you leave yourself no way out, just to buy a sliver of a chance for your Yun Weishan?” Zi Yi’s hands sharpened like claws as she reached for his heart. “Foolish, and pitiful.”
Blood staining his lips, Han Ya Si firmly grabbed Zi Yi and suddenly burst into laughter, his snow-white teeth smeared with blood.
Puzzled, Zi Yi looked down and saw that Han Ya Si was actually holding a Mountain Crusher...
In the distance, Yun Weishan, supporting the half-conscious Gong Ziyu, suddenly heard an explosion. She did not look back, but she understood everything clearly. Tears fell from her eyes in large drops.
On the tall steps, corpses lay everywhere.
Zi Yi staggered down the steps but ultimately collapsed.
Han Ya Si, his face covered in blood, knelt at the top of the steps. He lifted his head just in time to see the surging sunset clouds rushing toward him. Sunlight spread across his face, soft and blurred, bringing an inexplicable smile to his lips.
At this moment, as his life was about to end, memories flashed vividly before his eyes—
He couldn’t remember how many years had passed, but day after day, he had repeated the same cruel existence.
At Wufeng headquarters, the young girls’ training had ended. As dusk fell, Han Ya Si led a group of girls away from the cold stone chamber. In the corridor, high on the stone wall, there was a small window facing a patch of sky.
