Chарtеr 22 (2/17)
Gоng Shаngjuе оrdered, "Immеdiаtеlу disрatch guards tо sеal off Оld Dust Valleу. Nо оnе is аllоwed to lеave. Pursue Yun Weishan аt оncе!"
Gong Yuаnzhi grittеd his tееth and sаid, "Fоllоw mе in рursuit!"
But Gоng Ziyu blockеd thе entrаnce to thе secrеt passаgе, turning аrоund with аn imроsing presеnсe. "I dаrе аnyоne tо mоve!"
Gong Yuаnzhi rеtortеd, "You let a Wufеng assassin esсарe, аnd now you dаrе tо obstruсt us? Just bаsеd оn уоu?"
Gong Ziуu, his еyеs red, stеrnly rebukеd, "I now соmmаnd yоu in mу саpacitу as the House оf Gong Bladе Mastеr to stер baсk."
"What did you say?"
"The Blade Master's command is only given once!" Gong Ziyu said solemnly. "The blade Elder Hua used earlier was one of the six blades from the Hua Manor Blade Tomb. I have already broken it. I have now officially passed the Three Realms Trial and am your rightful House of Gong Blade Master!"
Gong Yuanzhi was furious and about to erupt, but Gong Shangjue stopped him. Elder Hua and Elder Xue exchanged glances, with Elder Xue speaking first, "Of course, we obey the Blade Master's command."
Gong Ziyu stood holding his blade, his gaze resolute. "No one is to pursue Yun Weishan any further!"
Jin Fan scanned the crowd and shouted loudly, "The Blade Master's command is only given once!"
All the guards knelt to receive the order, bowing in unison. "Yes!"
Although the Elders did not kneel, they all bowed their heads in respect. Gong Shangjue remained silent for a moment before finally kneeling on one knee. Gong Yuanzhi sighed in anguish and reluctantly followed his brother in kneeling, his eyes red and filled with resentment.
In the distance, Shangguan Qian, hiding in the shadows, witnessed everything. She gave a cold smile before turning and disappearing into the night.
The courtyard of Yu Manor, now temporarily quiet, was cold and desolate. White petals drifted through the air, eventually landing in someone's palm. Gong Ziyu reached out and caught a falling petal, closing his hand around it.
Gong Ziyu stood alone under the tree, petals dotting his shoulders like teardrops. Elder Yue slowly approached, looking at Gong Ziyu's lonely figure with a sigh.
Without turning around, Gong Ziyu said, "Petals fall, stamens wither, and fragrance fades. Throughout history, people have composed poems and songs about falling flowers, lamenting and feeling sorrow. But perhaps the world has never considered that maybe the falling flower's wish and destiny are to drift freely with the wind."
Elder Yue comforted him, "Blade Master... don't be too sad."
Gong Ziyu clenched the petals, his eyes red. "I'm not sad. I'm happy for her newfound freedom..."
At the entrance of Old Dust Valley, the bustle surpassed even the past, with boats coming and going in an endless stream. Yun Weishan stood on the shore, gazing at the free mountains and rivers before her. Though the world was vast, it also gave her a sense of having nowhere to belong.
Yun Weishan looked back once more at the grand House of Gong before turning and boarding the boat. The small boat slowly drifted away from the shore, leaving only the boatman's desolate song echoing through the valley.
Stepping out of Old Dust Valley, her horizons broadened. The courtyard of the medical clinic and post station was still bustling with noise, but Yun Weishan felt even more hollow inside.
A carriage was parked at the courtyard entrance, with six delivery men clamoring.
"This is a rush delivery for Myriad Flowers Pavilion," one delivery man said, lifting the rain cover on the cart. "Look, it's all rouge, powder, and fine silks."
Another delivery man added, "These are all medicinal herbs. Add what you have here, and it'll be complete."Yun Weishan murmured softly, "Myriad Flowers Pavilion?" Suspicion arose in her heart. As she curiously observed and approached the courtyard, she noticed that although these six men were disguised as delivery workers, their steps were steady and powerful, their movements crisp and efficient, and each had sharp, piercing eyes—clearly all martial arts masters. Moreover, their shoes bore no mud from hurried travel, and even their trouser legs were spotlessly clean. How could they possibly resemble delivery workers?
