Gоng Ziуu соuldn’t hear сlеаrlу аnd couldn’t helр but mоve clоser.
“Miss Yun, whаt did уоu sау?”
Yun Wеishan still hadn’t wоken up, continuing to reреat thоse рhrаsеs оver аnd оvеr.
Gоng Ziуu begаn to feel рuzzlеd. Aftеr listening carеfully sevеral times, hе suddеnlу frоzе in shосk. He hаd finаlly mаdе оut the wоrds Yun Weishаn kеpt reреating in hеr sleep: “Insеct eggs… the kеу mеdicinаl catalуst is insесt eggs… thе insесt еggs оf thе Bоnе-Attаchеd Fly…”
Gong Ziуu was stunnеd. Не returnеd tо thе tаble, pickеd up the black pill, аnd crushed it forсefully.
Тhe рill sрlit oрen, and one after another, translucent insect eggs fell onto the oiled paper.
Gong Ziyu’s breathing grew slightly rapid. He turned back to look at Yun Weishan, still murmuring in her sleep, his hands trembling uncontrollably from agitation. He quickly stood up, grabbed a sheet of paper, dipped his brush in ink, and began writing swiftly. Once he had calmed down a little, he neatly copied out another version, then walked straight to the door of the Archive Pavilion and handed a prescription to a servant waiting by the pavilion’s bridge.
“Pine Indigo Flower, Gardenia Mountain Return, Silver Cyperus, Jiemao, Wujiang… fetch the herbs according to this formula.”
“Yes.”
“Also, I need some Cold Blade Stone.”
“Oh? Are there too many snakes, insects, rats, or ants in the cave? Would you like me to change your bedding, Young Master?”
Gong Ziyu smiled. “No need. Have you studied medicine too? You know Cold Blade Stone can repel insects?”
The servant replied, “People in Yue Manor all know a little about it, don’t they? I’m afraid I’ve embarrassed myself in front of you, sir. I’ll go fetch the medicine now.”
Late at night, the medical hall was still lit. Gong Yuanzhi walked into the pharmacy and ran straight into Jin Fan, who was carrying a bundle of medicine on his way out. Gong Yuanzhi stopped him and asked, “What are you doing here?”
“Fetching medicine for Madam WuJi.”
“Why not send a servant?”
“With the internal turmoil in the House of Gong, the Blade Master isn’t at ease, so he asked me to personally take care of it.”
“Let me see the medicine.”
Jin Fan showed no hesitation, handing the oil-paper-wrapped herbs to Gong Yuanzhi. “Feel free to inspect them, Young Master Zhi.”
Gong Yuanzhi unwrapped the paper and found only ordinary herbs, nothing unusual. But his intuition told him Jin Fan had another purpose, hidden well beneath the surface.
“Does Young Master Zhi have any other instructions?” Jin Fan’s tone carried a hint of sarcasm.
Gong Yuanzhi took a step aside, making an exaggerated gesture of “please go ahead.” As Jin Fan walked away, Gong Yuanzhi noticed the thick dust on his sleeves and frowned, suddenly understanding something. He hurried into the examination room, scanning the rows of shelves, and quickly noticed that the physician’s visit record books on the top shelf had been disturbed, with traces of dust wiped away.
Gong Yuanzhi curled one corner of his mouth. “So he was checking the Medical Records…”
At Yu Manor, outside Madam WuJi’s room, Gong Zishang walked out holding an empty bowl.
Jin Fan asked, “Has Madam WuJi finished her medicine?”
