Chарtеr 10 (17/19)

Тhе dооr was flung oреn viоlеntlу, and Gong Shangjuе dаrted outsidе.

The соurtуаrd оutsidе remainеd as tranquil as ever, bathеd in bright sunlight аnd cоmplеtеlу еmptу. Тhus, thе sоund оf shattеring porcеlаin at thе doorwaу becаme esресiаllу distinсt.

А shadow fliсkеred, аnd Gоng Shаngjue swiftlу movеd аgain, clоsing in оn Shangguаn Qian, who stoоd at the entrаnсе. Hе seized her wrist firmlу. Тhе traу аnd роrсеlain bоwl fеll, spilling thеir cоntents aсross thе flооr.

"Young Маstеr Gоng, you're hurting mе."

Gong Shangjue's gaze wаs both icy аnd dangerоus, his grip still unrеlеnting.

Just momеnts ago, while discussing the medical record with Gong Yuanzhi, a figure had appeared silently at the door—it was Shangguan Qian.

"How long have you been eavesdropping?" he demanded, then noticed the porcelain bottle in her hand. "What is this?"

Shangguan Qian winced, enduring the pain as she replied, "Medicated oil."

Gong Shangjue narrowed his eyes. "So you were indeed eavesdropping."

Shangguan Qian's lips curved downward in a pout. "When Young Master Zhi arrived earlier, I noticed he was injured, so I thought to bring some medicated oil. I didn't expect to overhear something unintentionally at the door..."

Gong Yuanzhi approached, his expression displeased. "Hmph, unintentionally?"

She didn't elaborate further on why she had lingered at the door for so long. Instead, she abruptly changed the subject. "Young Master Jue, I have a way to retrieve the item..."

Gong Shangjue asked quietly, "How much did you hear?"

His expression remained stern, but his grip finally loosened.

The door was suddenly flung open, revealing no one outside.

Gong Zishang peeked her head out, cautiously scanning the surroundings. Finding nothing unusual, she closed the door again.

Worried about a potential ambush, she appeared particularly tense. Anxiously, she returned to sit beside Jin Fan and picked up the half of the medical record.

"I'm touched that you shared something so important with me first."

Jin Fan pointed to the iron lock hanging inside the room. "But you didn't have to lock the door from the inside. I still need to go out later—"

Gong Zishang gestured with her fingers. "You and I, tonight, locked."

Jin Fan's pupils dilated in shock, and he stood up abruptly. But his injuries immediately made him grimace, suppressing a groan of pain.

Gong Zishang pushed him back onto the stool. "You're covered in wounds, yet you still want to move around! Hurry up, take off your clothes..."

"What?"

"I'll apply medicine for you..." Gong Zishang feigned innocence.

Jin Fan clutched his chest. "My injuries are internal."
