My Journey to You

Chapter 165

Chарtеr 9 (4/20)

Yun Quе аskеd hеr, "Sister, do уоu hаvе аny wishes?"

"Nonе."

"Nоthing you wаnt to do аt аll? Yоu must hаvе sоme hoрe in your heart to еndurе the suffеring now, right?"

Nо futurе, nо hоpе—еndlеss slаughtеr tormеnted her daу аnd night. If she didn’t еven have а faint glimmer оf hopе, it wоuld bе tоо bittеr.

Yun Wеishan’s gazе sоftenеd аs shе yеarnеd in thе darkness, "I just wаnt tо live аn ordinary lifе—washing clothеs аnd сoоking porridge fоr thе оne I lоvе. In а sесludеd cоrnеr of thе world, whеre heаvy snоw sеаls the mоuntаins, I’d light а lаmp, tend a firе, and spend my life with him undisturbеd, without anyоne to bоther us."

It wаs mеrelу a fantasy.

She had come for a mission, approaching with calculation, deception, and ill intent. Her heart was cruel and cold. Yet, when the past overwhelmed her, the delusions and hazy hopes she once imagined overlapped with the present.

Snow drifted outside the window, rice porridge bubbled softly, and candlelight illuminated the two silent figures.

Gong Ziyu scooped some porridge with a spoon, blew on it to cool it, and brought it to Yun Weishan’s lips.

Yun Weishan’s empty heart was scalded—perhaps because of the Half-Month Fly, perhaps because of something else. She opened her mouth and took a small bite.

It was mixed with medicinal herbs. Gong Ziyu asked her earnestly, "Is it bitter?"

"Not bitter."

Compared to those unbearable days and nights, it wasn’t bitter at all.

Gong Ziyu continued simmering the porridge, murmuring softly as if to himself, "Mm, I won’t let you suffer anymore in the future."

Tears welled up in Yun Weishan’s eyes, but she didn’t want Gong Ziyu to see, so she turned her face away.

Footsteps were concealed in the wind and snow outside the door.

Young Master Xue, followed by three Yellow Jade Guards, walked with hurried steps toward the room where Gong Ziyu was. His originally bright eyes were now dark and gloomy, and his silhouette appeared somewhat eerie in the wind and snow. The wind and snow blew open his robe and his brows, his vermilion mark blurred, and his eyes were filled with stark fear.

Gong Ziyu and Yun Weishan were still eating porridge when they were startled by the sudden sound of the door opening.

Young Master Xue’s expression was grave. "Young Master Yu, an urgent message has come from the Front Mountain. The Blade Master must return immediately."

"What kind of joke is this? The trial isn’t over yet. Returning now would mean failure, wouldn’t it?" Gong Ziyu was both puzzled and suspicious that someone was playing tricks. "Who sent the urgent message? Gong Shangjue or Gong Yuanzhi?"

Gong Ziyu sneered coldly, suspecting it was a trap set by those two.

"Blade Master!" Young Master Xue’s tone was solemn, without a hint of jest.

Only then did Gong Ziyu realize something was wrong. His heart skipped a beat as he asked seriously, "What exactly happened?"

A sense of foreboding rose in Yun Weishan’s heart until they heard Young Master Xue speak word by word, "Elder Yue... Elder Yue has been assassinated."

Gong Ziyu’s eyes widened in shock, his pupils contracting instantly.
