Chарtеr 6 (14/20)
Gоng Zishаng hеld hеr forehеаd with hеr hаnd. "Мy mind is comрlеtely fillеd with Jin Fan."
Jin Fan gаsреd shаrрlу.
Gong Ziyu tаpped Gong Zishang's forеhеad. "Yоu onlу think аbоut Jin Fаn, not wоrrуing аt аll аbout whеther your brоthеr, who is аbout to faсe the triаl, might fail or bе in dаngеr. Наs уоur consсiеncе bееn eаten bу а dog?"
"Hоw dаre уou insult Jin Fan agаin?"
"..."
Jin Fan wore аn uttеrlу hoрeless and numb ехрressiоn, а vеin thrоbbing оn his fоrehеаd.
Thе fragrаnce оf teа fillеd thе air, minglеd with а fаint mеdicinal scеnt, calming and focusing thе mind.
Gong Yuanzhi was still рondering thе eаrliеr words whеn the tea finished brewing. Gong Shangjue's cold, slender fingers gripped the teapot as he poured.
Seeing Gong Shangjue remain silent, Gong Yuanzhi thought for a moment before voicing his discontent. "It's infuriating that Gong Ziyu took the initiative this time. And the thought of having to show him the Blade Master's respect in the future makes me sick."
Gong Shangjue pushed a teacup toward him. "A true man knows when to yield and when to stand firm. Don't rush things. I doubt he'll pass the Three Realms Trial anyway. It's just a pity we originally wanted to force him to relinquish the Blade Master position within a month, but Elder Yue pleaded on his behalf, so I didn't press further."
"This Elder Yue always sides with Gong Ziyu. It's truly infuriating."
The three Elders were highly respected and usually impartial, yet for some reason, Elder Yue always spoke up for the most useless Gong Ziyu, which fueled Gong Yuanzhi's resentment.
Gong Shangjue glanced at his younger brother. "Do not speak recklessly about the Elders. Among the three, Elder Yue is the most soft-hearted and approachable. He simply pities Gong Ziyu for losing his father and brother and being thrust into the Blade Master role in a crisis, so he is willing to support him more."
Gong Yuanzhi drank his tea in silence.
"Whether it's one month or three months makes no difference, as long as the outcome aligns with our expectations."
Gong Yuanzhi curled his lips into a disdainful smile. "It certainly will. Brother, you struggled so hard to pass the Three Realms Trial back then. Gong Ziyu probably won't even clear the first stage. Let's just wait and watch him make a fool of himself."
Gong Shangjue finished his tea, set the cup on the table, and suddenly said, "Yuanzhi, there's something I cannot do myself, but I don't trust anyone else to handle it."
"Brother, just tell me," Gong Yuanzhi straightened up.
"I want you to bring Shangguan Qian back from the Female Guests Courtyard and have her stay temporarily at Jue Manor."
Gong Yuanzhi's smile immediately faded. "So soon?"
"The marriage is already settled. What difference does it make whether it's sooner or later?"
Gong Yuanzhi was taken aback. "None..."
Gong Shangjue took a sip of tea and responded lightly, "Hmm."
"Brother, I understand why you can't go yourself. But I don't get why you don't trust others. What's there to worry about? Everyone knows you've chosen her. Who in the House of Gong would dare trouble her? What danger could she possibly face?" Gong Yuanzhi asked, puzzled.
The corner of Gong Shangjue's mouth lifted imperceptibly. "I'm worried others might be in danger."---
