Fei Ni's spirit was stronger than her body, still resisting Fang Muyang with all her might. They were in the water room, and someone outside could push the door open at any moment. The thought made her whole body tense and rigid, yet her lips were soft.
She reached out to push him away, but Fang Muyang grasped her hand, intertwining their fingers. Not only could she not muster any strength in her hands, but she couldn't even speak. Fang Muyang had sealed her lips, trapping phrases like "I want to rest" or "Stay away from me" against his own mouth. He neither heard nor felt them.
While resisting Fang Muyang, she strained to listen for any sounds outside, wondering if someone might enter. She heard no footsteps, only her own heartbeat, Fang Muyang's breathing, and the cicadas chirping outside. It was already autumn—why were there still cicadas?
Her attention divided, her resistance proved ineffective, and Fang Muyang grew increasingly bold.
At first, Fei Ni refused to bite his lips hard, afraid he might mistake it for affection and respond in kind. Whether out of disgust for his audacity or her own physical weakness, she finally bit down with force. Yet Fang Muyang neither cried out in pain nor stopped. He released her hand and cupped her face, his touch growing lighter and lighter until it felt almost nonexistent, even as her bite intensified.
Fei Ni felt disappointed in herself. She still couldn't bring herself to hurt him and had no choice but to let him have his way. As he kissed her against her will, she even shamefully closed her eyes, both yielding to him and remaining alert to any movement outside.
Whether he sensed her disappointment or not, Fang Muyang finally gave her a chance to speak, moving his mouth to her ear.
Instead of using the opportunity to scold him, Fei Ni said, "Let's go back. What if someone comes?"
That would be utterly humiliating. Everyone in this building worked at her factory. If they were seen, by tomorrow the whole factory would be buzzing with gossip: Fei Ni, instead of staying home at night, insisted on clinging to her man in the water room, kissing and caressing. And that was just what might be seen—who knew how the rumors would twist things? She planned to keep working at the factory and living in this building for a long time.
"If they come, let them. We're married—can't we enjoy the moon together?"
"We can watch it back home." She knew perfectly well that he wasn't just here for the moon, and so would everyone else.
Fang Muyang leaned closer to her ear. "But I think it's better to watch the moon here. Don't you agree?"
"If you want to watch the moon, then watch it properly. I'm going back." She refused to embarrass herself here with him.
"But I only want to watch it with you."
Fang Muyang's hand pressed down on her shoulder, making it impossible for her to leave. He held her close, occasionally leaning in to kiss her—sometimes hastily, other times meticulously. The hasty kisses were even harder for Fei Ni to bear; she'd rather he took his time, though his thoroughness was no less overwhelming. Her ears remained attuned to any footsteps outside, her heart pounding even harder than when she listened to music radio at home. She had never realized he could be so infuriating, deliberately making things difficult for her.
If anyone from the factory saw her like this, how could she possibly show up for work tomorrow? She was completely wrapped in his embrace and negotiated with him, "Can we go back?" It was almost a plea.
Before this, she had never pleaded with him; she had only made demands.
Fang Muyang tapped her nose with his finger. "So eager to go back? Do you think the moon looks better in our own room?"
Fei Ni felt a surge of anger. This isn't your factory's housing. You're not afraid of losing face, but I am.
She tilted her head up, briefly touched her lips to his, then lowered her head again and tugged at his sleeve. "Let's go back."
They had arrived separately, but on the way back, they squeezed close together.
As soon as they entered the door, Fang Muyang pressed her against it, spun her around in his arms, and while kissing her, reached back to lock the door.
