The on-site due diligence and restructuring work for CBD company was nearing completion. On the Friday before their withdrawal from the site, everyone received wedding invitations for Gui Lili and the chairman's banquet next month.
Qian Fei held the bright red, gold-embossed invitation and glanced worriedly at Li Yifei.
His face showed no expression, appearing utterly calm.
Qian Fei thought his reaction was abnormal. If he truly didn’t care, he shouldn’t be this calm—he should either say something indifferent or angrily curse a few words. In any case, it shouldn’t be like this, so eerily composed that time itself seemed to bend around him.
That evening, after returning home, she cooked a few dishes and called the supermarket to have a case of beer delivered. Luckily, the supermarket had launched free delivery services to compete with the Carrefour at the intersection.
Once the food was ready, Qian Fei pulled Li Yifei to the dining table, popped open a can of beer, raised it dramatically, and delivered a grand life truth to console the heartbroken man she imagined him to be:
"Buddy, there are plenty of fish in the sea! If she wants to run off with someone else, let her! Don’t secretly sulk, alright?"
Li Yifei glanced at her, picked up his beer but didn’t clink it with hers. After taking a sip, he raised an eyebrow and asked, "Which eye of yours sees me sulking?"
Qian Fei narrowed her eyes and patted her chest. "The mind’s eye!"
Li Yifei scoffed. "Do you even have one of those? You’re missing so much common sense it’s practically a disability!"
Qian Fei slammed the table. "I said mind’s eye! Not common sense!" She proactively clinked her beer can against his. "But at least we’ve finished the on-site work. No more going to CBD and seeing people who ruin your mood!"
Li Yifei watched her fussy demeanor and suddenly felt mischievous. "Sister Qian, are you really that worried I’d be upset about Gui Lili’s wedding?"
Qian Fei nodded. "Of course! You’re such a prideful person—how could you handle this?" She asked cautiously, "You’re not feeling too bad inside, are you?"
Li Yifei smirked. "Actually, I’m feeling really terrible inside."
Qian Fei frowned, distressed. "Then what do we do?"
Li Yifei pulled all the remaining beers from the case and lined them up on the table. "You drink these with me. Once they’re gone, I’ll feel better."
Qian Fei puffed out her chest with naive bravado. "Fine! No problem! Your big sister here is going all out today—I’ll risk my life to keep a heartbroken man company!"

Before they knew it, the entire case was empty.
Li Yifei said to Qian Fei, "My heartache’s still here. I think it’ll take another case to wash it away."
Qian Fei held her head. "Another one? I’m not in great shape today—if I drink more, I’ll probably get wasted!"
Li Yifei smirked, his expression eerily amused. "Didn’t you say you’d risk your life to keep me company?"
Qian Fei groaned. "But if the fussy heartbroken man has to take care of a drunk, puking me later, wouldn’t that make you even more miserable?"
Li Yifei raised an eyebrow. "If you really puke, I’ll gladly clean up after you. Deal?"
Qian Fei smacked the table. "Give me the phone—I’m calling the supermarket!"
Soon, the second case arrived.Li Yifei was merrily pouring beer. He didn’t know what had gotten into him today, but seeing Qian Fei worrying needlessly on his behalf was driving him up the wall. He really wanted to get her drunk—maybe then she wouldn’t have the energy to fuss over his nonexistent problems.
Soon, more than half of the second case of beer was gone. Qian Fei was already swaying drunkenly, but she still managed to mumble her well-meaning advice: “Young man, you’re still young, still handsome, with so much life ahead of you! You’ve got to look on the bright side! Pride is just a fleeting cloud—only money is humanity’s truest companion!”
Li Yifei massaged his temples, resisting the urge to shake some sense into this meddlesome, spendthrift girl.
He really wanted to tell her that he wasn’t upset at all, that he didn’t feel humiliated, that the woman in question had nothing to do with him anymore, and that he couldn’t care less about her now.
But this self-appointed saint before him was utterly convinced he was just putting on a brave face while suffering inside. As she swayed unsteadily, slurring her words but still earnestly advising him to “embrace the vast, mysterious, hopeful forest of life instead of fixating on one chopped-down tree,” he seriously considered finding something to shut her up.
Deciding he’d had enough of her rambling, he abruptly stood up, hauled her from the table before she could topple over, scooped her into his arms, and strode toward her bedroom with the intention of dumping her on the bed so she could sleep it off.
After settling her down and propping a pillow under her head, he tried to leave.
But she suddenly grabbed his arm and yanked him toward her. Caught off guard, he lost his footing and collapsed on top of her.
Their faces were now impossibly close—he could practically count each of her long eyelashes.
Still gripping him, she continued her drunken, incoherent lecture: “If you’re sad, you should let it out! Bottling it up for pride’s sake is bad for your health, don’t you know? Even if you say you don’t care, I know better! You said it yourself—you were together since studying abroad, you even fought with your dad over her! How could you possibly not care at all hearing she’s married? And you’re so prideful too! So listen, if you’re hurting...”
Li Yifei had reached his limit. As her ceaseless chatter buzzed in his ears, blood rushed to his head. He needed to silence her—but how? Her voice kept droning on, muddling his thoughts. Fueled by alcohol, rationality abandoned him. Too impatient to search for an alternative, he gave in to frustration and sealed her lips with his own, cutting off the irritating stream of words.
To his surprise, the taste of alcohol on her lips carried an inexplicable sweetness. Unable to resist, he began sucking gently, then pried her mouth open to tease her tongue.
At first, she made muffled noises as if trying to speak, but soon seemed to decide this was pleasant. Her eyes fluttered shut as she relaxed into his embrace, surrendering completely to his exploration—letting him plunder, letting him conquer, content to simply follow his lead.Li Yifei found this kiss utterly intoxicating. The sweet taste of wine lingering between their lips and teeth made him suck and kiss her relentlessly, unable to stop.
He had no idea what was happening to him. Normally, he wasn’t particularly fond of this kind of saliva-swapping act, but tonight, it felt so damn good that his entire spine tingled with pleasure. He simply couldn’t pull away.
The alcohol had heightened his sensitivity, and he could feel his body undergoing drastic changes. He felt as impulsive as a greenhorn untouched by desire. He kissed her fiercely, his hands instinctively slipping under her clothes, groping and kneading her chest. Beneath his palms, he savored the famously soft, C-cup mounds of her breasts. He could feel her melting like a puddle under his touch.
His desire surged even stronger, blood and alcohol rushing to his head. His rationality had long been discarded, leaving only a blazing fire of lust consuming his body. At this moment, all thought had abandoned him—only raw, primal male instinct remained, surging uncontrollably.
Driven by this instinct, his lips trailed down her fair, delicate neck while his trembling fingers fumbled with the buttons of her blouse. When her chest was finally exposed, he panted heavily between kisses and asked, "Can I?"
But she didn’t answer.
A certain part of him throbbed painfully. Holding his breath, he lifted his head to look at her, waiting for her permission to proceed.
And then…
He saw that she had actually fallen asleep.
She had, goddamn it, fallen asleep!!!
Right when she had him burning with desire, on the verge of losing his mind—she had fallen asleep!
Li Yifei nearly collapsed in disbelief.
He had actually made a woman fall asleep—under his handsome face, muscular physique, and flawless technique!
Why did her drunken habit of passing out have to kick in at this exact moment?!
Suppressing the urge to strangle Qian Fei, he buttoned her shirt back up, tucked her under the covers, turned off the lights, and closed the door. Then, in agony, he undid his belt and retreated to his own bathroom. Shutting the door, he pulled down his pants, closed his eyes, tilted his head back, and with memories of their kiss and the sight of her bare chest fresh in his mind, he took matters into his own hands.
Afterward, Li Yifei nearly punched the wall in bitter amusement.
If Da Jun and the others ever found out about tonight, he’d never live it down.

The next day, Qian Fei was woken up by Yao Jingjing’s phone call. Rubbing her head as she answered, she slowly realized something: she had blacked out again last night!
Yao Jingjing asked her what was wrong, why she sounded so sluggish during their weekly girl-talk session, and whether they could still hang out properly in the future. Qian Fei quickly explained, "Jingjing, I blacked out again last night! But weirdly enough, I think I had this super steamy, ridiculously hot wet dream!"
Yao Jingjing let out an excited squeal and urged, "Spill the details! And make sure to emphasize the juicy parts—you know what I mean!"
Qian Fei cradled her head and said, "I dreamed about this hunk kissing me, and damn, his skills were inhumanly good! Just his tongue alone had me soaked!"
Yao Jingjing shrieked, "And then? And then?!"Qian Fei clutched her head, straining to recall. "Then the hunk started touching me—those hands that set fires, damn it, felt so good I almost fell asleep!"
Yao Jingjing looked at her with utter disdain. "Sis, get a grip and use your brain! You were already asleep, okay?" After this scathing remark, she immediately switched to an excited, gossipy tone. "And then what? Did you guys go all the way or what?"
Qian Fei massaged her temples. "Then it felt so good that I actually fell asleep again in my dream!" She finished her story and pounded her chest in frustration. "Ugh, Yao Jingjing, tell me—how did my rare erotic dream end up taking a detour through Inception?"
Yao Jingjing was even more exasperated. "You hopeless girl! You were right at the climax—why did you have to fall asleep?"
Qian Fei suddenly sensed something off. "Wait, why are you so worked up over an unfinished wet dream? Don’t you and your sugar daddy put on live shows every day?"
Yao Jingjing snapped back, "Don’t you know the meaning of ‘variety is the spice of life’? And who’s putting on live shows every day? We’re not that insatiable!"
Qian Fei didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Why would I even have a dream like that out of the blue?"
Yao Jingjing declared matter-of-factly, "You’re man-starved and desperate! Go find some male specimen to vent on!"
With an anguished "Get lost!", Qian Fei hung up.
Glancing at her phone, she realized it was almost noon. She got up, washed her face, and stepped out of her room. Li Yifei was already up, watching TV in the living room with the volume turned low.
Suddenly, Qian Fei’s heart raced, and her cheeks burned.
Had he overheard her phone conversation with Yao Jingjing just now?
Clearing her throat, she tried to sound casual. "How long have you been out here watching TV?"
Without turning around, Li Yifei kept his eyes glued to the screen. "Just now."
Qian Fei let out a relieved "Oh."
"What do you want for lunch?" she asked, rummaging through the fridge.
Li Yifei turned to look at her.
"Whatever’s there is fine."
She turned back. "Wow, you’re being so agreeable tod—"
Her voice trailed off.
Because the way Li Yifei was looking at her was... strange.
Her face flushed hot again.
"Did you... hear my phone call earlier?" she stammered.
Li Yifei stared at her impassively. "If I said no, would you believe me?"
Her legs nearly gave out. Leaning against the fridge for support, she trembled. "I would! And you should believe it too! You definitely didn’t hear anything! No—I never even made a call! It was all an illusion!" With that, she stumbled back to her room, slammed the door shut, and buried her head in the sand like a panicked ostrich.
Li Yifei glared at her closed door, grinding his teeth.
Not only had she fallen asleep yesterday under his masterful, soul-searing kisses and caresses—she’d even forgotten about it today! She actually thought it was some erotic dream about a random hunk!
Suddenly, he felt it was utterly, completely, absolutely not worth it—waking up before 5 a.m., coming out to watch TV quietly so as not to disturb her.
