With the movie tickets in hand, Tong Yao dragged Lu Sicheng into the cinema like a thief. He didn’t resist at all along the way—probably still dazed from what Tong Yao had just done… or perhaps the happiness had come too suddenly. Even for someone like Lu Sicheng, he couldn’t react immediately.
It wasn’t until the lights dimmed and the theater plunged into darkness that no one could see anyone else.
By the glow of the screen, Tong Yao caught a glimpse of the person beside her removing his mask out of the corner of her eye. After a moment of thought, he tilted his head toward her and asked expressionlessly, “What was that earlier?”
“I saw fans of our team again.”
“Hm?”
“So I risked getting caught and did… that.”
“Why?”
“To prove with actions that I don’t dislike you. You’re great, and very handsome.” In the darkness, Tong Yao counted on her fingers, realizing that since she couldn’t see his face, her shamelessness had skyrocketed. “Also, I’m not a coward. I have a bit of a romantic, adventurous spirit sometimes.”
“...” Lu Sicheng didn’t comment on whether her answer satisfied him. After a brief silence, he simply said, “Good.”
Tong Yao thought, Good is good enough, stop asking, spare me—it’s just that I suddenly realized how damn handsome you look with a mask on and lost my mind, okay?! What other reason could there be?!
The movie started then. Lu Sicheng watched attentively for a while, but as time passed, he gradually slumped lower in his seat until his head finally rested on Tong Yao’s shoulder. Wait, isn’t this supposed to be my move? Tong Yao glanced down and saw that his eyes were already closed. She nudged her shoulder, and he slowly opened his eyes.
“What time did you sleep last night?” she asked.
Lu Sicheng thought for a moment. “Four.”
Tong Yao: “You got up later to go downstairs and play Ranked Games?”
Lu Sicheng yawned. “Little Fatty begged me to carry him out of Diamond II hell.”
“So you spent the whole night boosting your support, and now you’re shamelessly zoning out and dozing off on our date. Impressive, Captain.” She nudged her shoulder again. “Get up. You can’t lean on me.”
“You kissed me, but I can’t even lean on your shoulder?”
“………………………………………………What’s wrong with kissing you?”
“...Nothing.” As the screen brightened slightly, the head on her shoulder shifted. Lu Sicheng lifted his gaze slightly, his deep brown eyes fixed on her from a lower angle. “That earlier one was too fast. I didn’t react in time. Do it again?”
Even in the dark theater, his eyes were strikingly bright.
Tong Yao’s response was to pull up the hood of his sweatshirt and cover his face with it.
As for what happened in the movie, Tong Yao couldn’t recall a single scene afterward. The only thing she remembered was the man staring at her in the darkness for a long time before finally giving up and resting his head steadily on her shoulder, drifting into a light sleep…
…
He woke up just before the movie ended.
After waking, he didn’t say anything—just opened his eyes and calmly watched Tong Yao from beneath the edge of his half-covered hood. On the screen, the female lead embraced a giant fish floating in the sky, and the light brightened slightly. Tong Yao looked down and met Lu Sicheng’s gaze.
Lu Sicheng: “...”Tong Yao: "..."
Three seconds of eye contact.
The young girl suddenly lifted the cap of the man leaning on her shoulder and bent down to kiss his thin lips—just as the background music in the movie swelled, she felt the man shift slightly, sitting up as his tongue lightly brushed over her lips, giving a gentle peck. Just as he was about to deepen the kiss, Tong Yao straightened up.
Lu Sicheng: "...Huh."
Tong Yao: "........................What do you mean 'huh'?"
Lu Sicheng: "Expressing disappointment."
Tong Yao twitched the corner of her mouth and pushed away the head that had nearly numbed her shoulder from the weight.
