The Punisher Organization was not divine; it was impossible for them to have calculated that they would escape from here.
Unless there was a mole. Like her, equipped with a tracker, leading the Punishers here.
The identity of the mole was glaringly obvious.
Her movements were too swift. Before the three survivors could react, she had already lunged at Guo Feirong and dashed out of the car.
The police had long since investigated Guo Feirong's background and skills. Logically, he should have been unable to dodge You Mingxu's strike. Yet, a fierce glint flashed in his eyes as he swiftly tilted his head, narrowly avoiding the attack. Then he smirked and reached for You Mingxu's arm. She, of course, would not let him succeed, abruptly changing direction to strike at his face. However, he moved as fast as she did, raising his gun.
You Mingxu, having earlier crouched beneath the car, found it difficult to seize the initiative. She halted abruptly, her forehead pressed against the barrel of his gun, and froze.
Xing Yanjun, who had been hiding behind Guo Feirong while shielding his father, stared blankly. Xing Jifu seized the gun from his son's hand.
But Guo Feirong seemed to have eyes in the back of his head and said, "Boss, don't move. Do you want your daughter's head blown open?"
Xing Jifu paused.
The situation was lost.
Seven or eight men in black emerged from the tall grass beside the path. With a single glance, You Mingxu detected a chilling, calm demeanor in them, identical to Gu Tiancheng's. They were not ferocious, yet they evoked a deep unease, as if something within them had long died while something else had awakened.
Their guns were aimed at Xing Jifu and the other two. One of them took the gun from Xing Jifu's hand. Guo Feirong slowly stood up.
It was a strange sensation. This man usually gave off an impression of steadiness and caution—less fierce than Huang Long, less sinister than Luo Yu, appearing rather ordinary. But now, as he simply straightened up, his aura transformed entirely. He stood tall and cold, exuding a terrifying presence.
He walked back to the others, glanced at the three captives, and smiled. "Xing Jifu, see? Isn't this perfect? Your family is reunited in my hands."
You Mingxu froze, her eyes fixed intently on Guo Feirong. Who is he? she wondered.
Who is he, really?
The men in black drove a van out from behind the farmhouse—a vehicle so inconspicuous in the rural mountains, revealing their meticulous planning. Xing Yanjun was taken away alone in one vehicle, while Xing Jifu and You Mingxu were forced into Guo Feirong's van.
The rear seats of the van had been removed. The two were bound hand and foot, sitting on the floor with several guns trained on them. Guo Feirong took the passenger seat. Instead of heading toward town, the vehicle drove deeper into the mountains on the other side.
Someone came over to tend to Xing Jifu's wound and gave him an injection. It was unclear what the injection contained, but Xing Jifu's complexion did improve noticeably.
Guo Feirong leaned against the front seat, sitting on the floor as well. His gaze was dark and penetrating as he watched them.
Xing Jifu asked, "Why?"
Guo Feirong rested his arms on his thighs—a simple gesture that nonetheless radiated a dark, oppressive aura, even a casual laziness that held their lives in his grasp.
Guo Feirong replied, "Because you are guilty."You Mingxu suddenly noticed that while Guo Feirong's features could only be described as ruggedly handsome, his eyes were exceptionally deep and beautiful. It was a strange sensation that made her heart skip a beat.
Xing Jifu asked, "Who exactly are you?"
Guo Feirong glanced at You Mingxu and replied, "I'm Guo Feirong, the man who's followed you for ten years. Though, a decade ago, I certainly didn't go by this name."
You Mingxu inquired, "Then what was your name?"
Guo Feirong smiled, his expression cool and detached, and said, "Guess?" His tone when speaking to her carried a teasing note.
Yet You Mingxu's mind raced.
He wanted her to guess.
Did that mean it should be a name she knew?
Xing Jifu, however, chuckled softly. Even in this dire situation with an unknown adversary, he maintained his composure and presence. He said, "You approached me ten years ago. Do we have some grudge?"
Guo Feirong replied indifferently, "Yes, of course we have a grudge."
Now You Mingxu was confused. She wondered if Guo Feirong was some former underworld enemy of Xing Jifu or someone harmed by him, which would explain why he joined the Punisher Organization. That would make sense.
Still, observing Guo Feirong's commanding presence and his ability to direct so many Punishers—after the police crackdown, the Punisher Organization shouldn't have many members left, and today's operation might be their full force—Guo Feirong could very well be...
That person.
Suppressing her doubts, You Mingxu watched their confrontation unfold.
Xing Jifu fell into deep thought. Having dominated the underworld for decades with an exceptional memory, he couldn't recall anyone from ten years ago who matched the man before him. If this was an enemy, he had eliminated them all back in the day and had no idea where this figure had emerged from.
Dropping the identity issue, Xing Jifu shifted gears and asked, "What do you want? Everything is negotiable."
Guo Feirong smiled and clapped his hands twice, saying, "Boss Xing is as direct as ever. But... Mingxu, why don't you tell him what we want?"
That odd feeling returned. He called her "Mingxu" as if they were acquainted. You Mingxu remained expressionless and said coldly to Xing Jifu, "They call themselves Punishers and have already killed many fugitives. What do you think he wants?"
Guo Feirong seemed pleased with this response, his smile unwavering.
Xing Jifu understood, though he found it unbelievable, and responded decisively, "Fine, I'll go with you, at your mercy. But my daughter and son are innocent. Let them go, and I can give you a substantial sum—enough for you to do whatever you want. Since you're already on the police's radar, things can't be easy for you. With this money, your operations will be much smoother."
Even You Mingxu was taken aback and couldn't help glancing at Xing Jifu. At such a moment, he seemed indifferent to life and death, still negotiating and shrewdly targeting the other's weakness with an offer of profit, all to protect her and Xing Yanjun. You Mingxu felt conflicted. She didn't want to feel grateful, yet she couldn't ignore his actions.
Guo Feirong laughed and said, "How touching, this parental devotion! Unfortunately, I never make deals with the guilty. How can enforcers negotiate with those they punish? As for your son and daughter, I can't release them. I have other uses for them."
You Mingxu's heart sank.Since they couldn't reach an agreement, Xing Jifu stopped speaking.
The van bounced along the rugged mountain road, but the Punishers were all fierce, with several guns trained on the two captives. You Mingxu had no chance to escape. However, the wooden hairpin was still in her hair—she had held back during the attack on Guo Feirong and hadn't revealed it. She could only wait patiently.
There was also Yin Feng, and the other police officers.
The Punishers had just emerged from the deep mountains, only to plunge into another range.
Could Yin Feng still track her signal?
