Coming to Myself

Chapter 231

Luo Yu didn't have to wait long with his men by the roadside before a black SUV approached.

As it drew nearer, Luo Yu didn't recognize the driver, but the person in the passenger seat made his expression darken. He quietly instructed his subordinates, "Get your guns."

His men's faces changed, their hands moving to the guns concealed beneath their clothes, ready for action.

The vehicle stopped about two or three meters away from them. The first to step out was a familiar face—Chen Feng, Yin Feng's assistant, whom Luo Yu recognized. This man was no ordinary person either; he turned his back to them without a hint of panic and carefully helped another person out of the car.

When Luo Yu saw the second person, his expression instantly shifted. He rushed over, exclaiming, "Yanjun!"

Xing Yanjun was covered in blood, his arm wrapped in bandages, his face pale. Supported carefully by Chen Feng, he gave Luo Yu a slight nod.

The person from the passenger seat stepped out—it was Yin Feng. The driver was Tuya, his expression cold and detached.

Luo Yu's subordinates hurried over to take Xing Yanjun from Chen Feng. Luo Yu glanced at Yin Feng and asked Xing Yanjun quietly, "How bad are your injuries? What happened?"

Recalling the night's events, Xing Yanjun still felt a lingering fear. He replied, "We ran into Xiangtan Lao. The men with me were either injured or killed. I managed to escape with two others and happened to run into Senior Yin, who brought me here."

Luo Yu's expression remained unchanged as he nodded and said, "It's alright now. The boss has already contacted me. We'll send you back to Hunan first thing tomorrow morning. We'll settle the score with Xiangtan Lao later."

Xing Yanjun said nothing more. Luo Yu instructed his men to help him inside to rest. After taking a few steps, Xing Yanjun turned and said, "Senior Yin, thank you. Luo Yu, Senior Yin mentioned to me a few days ago that he'd be traveling to Guizhou for inspiration. Running into them was just my luck. Senior, I'll treat you to a meal when we're back in Hunan. Luo Yu, see them off for me."

After speaking, Xing Yanjun walked past the crowd and nodded to Yin Feng.

Yin Feng simply smiled and said, "It was nothing. See you in Xiangcheng."

Once Xing Yanjun was far enough away, Yin Feng and his companions were about to get back in the car when Luo Yu gave a signal. His men immediately surrounded them and the vehicle.

Yin Feng said leisurely, "Luo Beast, what's the meaning of this? Is this how you treat the Crown Prince's savior?"

Luo Yu sneered, "Savior? More like a schemer!"

Luo Yu had no way of knowing that Yin Feng was part of a special task force, but he had roughly investigated Yin Feng's background. He knew that Yin Feng had previously assisted the police in solving cases. Moreover, whether before or after his amnesia, this man had been entangled with You Mingxu. Luo Yu naturally didn't believe the nonsense about "happening to run into Xing Yanjun and saving him." He also didn't think Xing Yanjun truly believed it—the Heir, though much more naive than them, wasn't foolish. Yet, before leaving, the Heir had given the order to let Yin Feng go. After all, he was a clean-cut person, too soft-hearted.

This Yin Feng was far too audacious, daring to follow them here and appearing so brazenly. Whatever his purpose for this trip—whether official or personal—since he had tracked them to this road, Luo Yu couldn't let him leave.

"Take them away!" Luo Yu ordered.

Chen Feng and Tuya, standing behind Yin Feng, both tensed. As the subordinates moved to seize them, the two struggled briefly but were quickly overpowered by the sheer number of opponents.

No one laid a hand on Yin Feng. Luo Yu had seen his mediocre fighting skills before and said with a mocking smile, "Teacher Yin, after you!" Since he had walked right into the trap, Luo Yu would grant his wish. The three were quickly bound tightly, their mouths sealed with tape, and under the cover of night, they were escorted to one of the houses and locked inside.

Since Tuya had acted very weak and looked rather foolish earlier, the underlings didn't take them seriously at all. After locking them in the room, they left, leaving only one person guarding the door.

The small, dilapidated room didn't even have a stool. Yin Feng sat on the ground, with Chen Feng and Tuya sitting behind him. Hearing the guard outside eating, Tuya flicked his wrist, and a thin blade slipped out from his sleeve.

This trick was something Yin Feng had taught him.

After a while, he had cut through one of the ropes on his wrist. With his strength, he could easily break the rest with a fierce effort. He tore the tape off his mouth and then did the same for the other two, asking, "Teacher Yin, what do we do now?"

Yin Feng said, "Leave it as it is. There's no need to untie our ropes. It'll save us the trouble of having to tie them back later."

His words were unconditionally trusted by the two.

Along the way, the police had been following Luo Yu's convoy from a distance, but they couldn't get too close. Falling back a bit, they ended up following Xing Yanjun instead. When Xing Yanjun was attacked, Yin Feng decided to step in and help. Others advised Yin Feng to be cautious, warning that exposure could mean life-threatening danger.

Yin Feng only said two things:

Xing Yanjun shouldn't die yet.

And he himself would definitely be fine.

Sure enough, just as Teacher Yin had predicted, after Xing Yanjun reunited with Luo Yu, he spoke up to protect them. Luo Yu didn't harm them either.

But...

Chen Feng and Tuya exchanged a glance. Chen Feng said, "Then there was no need for us to bring Xing Yanjun all the way here. We could have dropped him off far away. What's the benefit of letting ourselves be captured like this?"

Yin Feng said, "You Mingxu is here."

Chen Feng replied, "But you haven't even seen her."

Yin Feng chuckled, "With her personality, would she obediently stay in a room? Luo Yu won't tie her up. She'll definitely take the chance when he's not looking to scout around, checking out their manpower and defense layout. Won't we see her then?"

Tuya laughed and said, "So what if we see her? Can you even talk to her?" He didn't dare add, "Wouldn't Luo Yu finish you off?"

Yin Feng said, "No need to talk. She'll understand just by seeing me."

Tuya and Chen Feng suddenly felt like they'd been force-fed an overwhelmingly sweet and annoying mouthful of dog food.

To avoid being discovered, Yin Feng instructed Tuya to tape his mouth shut again. The abandoned house offered little concealment. He turned to look out the window—most of the bandits were resting in their rooms, and Luo Yu was nowhere to be seen. Only two or three people were stationed outside.

The sky was dark and heavy, with distant mountains crouching low.

A person emerged from a room across the way. Her expression was calm, but her eyes quickly scanned the surroundings, taking everything in without a trace of emotion.

A few lackeys saw her but paid no attention and didn't say a word.

A surge of resentment suddenly rose in Yin Feng's heart—were they treating her as the boss's woman? Even though he knew she was just playing a role and feigning compliance, he still felt a fierce, possessive anger at the thought of others coveting what was his.

Yet, after watching her for a while, that anger miraculously dissipated.

Lately, it had always been like this. Always.

Outside on the hillside, only a dim light shone from inside the house, illuminating her face. She had always been a good actress—stretching lazily, her expression indifferent, as if careless, yet she walked a full circle outside, glancing into each room as she passed. When she passed by one of the rooms, she paused briefly before lowering her head and walking on. Yin Feng guessed she had caught sight of Xing Yanjun.

As they approached that room, she lifted her gaze, and their eyes met.
