Coming to Myself

Chapter 199

Now, it all depended on what both sides would do next. The Yunnan anti-narcotics police were also closely monitoring the informant and the suspect. Some of their investigative methods were confidential and could not be disclosed to the public. The Hunan team could only wait for updates from them.

After sorting out the basic relationships among the personnel, Xu Mengshan stared at the photos of the Xing father and son and muttered, "Such fine men, why turn to crime? This Xing Jifu looks familiar—have I seen him in the news?"

Jing Ping asked, "What do you all think?"

You Mingxu said, "We wait. Luo Yu is too sharp; it’s hard to dig anything directly from him. We can only wait for Yunnan to contact them again and respond calmly."

Jing Ping looked at Yin Feng.

Yin Feng said, "I agree with A Xu. Only a patient hunter can catch the rabbit." He spoke the last sentence with a meaningful tone, and Jing Ping smiled, saying, "I think so too."

You Mingxu found it odd and shot Yin Feng a glance, whispering, "Why so much nonsense?"

Yin Feng replied, "Then why don’t you shut me up?"

You Mingxu ignored him.

Just then, Jing Ping received a phone call. As he listened, his expression grew serious, but soon a faint smile appeared.

After hanging up, he said, "Yunnan has made a move."

Xiangcheng Airport.

A flight from Guiyang was slowly descending onto the runway.

Several plainclothes police officers were scattered outside the passenger corridor designated for this flight. Upon disembarking, passengers were directed to take this separate, secluded passage.

Jing Ping, You Mingxu, Xu Mengshan, and Yin Feng stood behind a one-way glass panel beside the corridor, watching every passenger walking from a distance.

The message from Yunnan was urgent. They only knew that the drug courier was a woman, an experienced one—the kind anti-narcotics police referred to as a "drug mule." The woman they were to apprehend today was around 30 years old, from Yunnan, and it was highly likely she was transporting drugs internally. Her name and appearance, however, remained unknown.

The reason for capturing her was that Yunnan had sent a new contact to Hunan, and this woman was the contact’s subordinate. She likely held information about the contact.

An elderly couple walked past excitedly, followed by a calm family of three, a young woman with climbing ropes on her back walking with her head down, and groups of young men and women chatting and laughing loudly after their trip… Jing Ping’s gaze, however, fixed on one person in the crowd.

It was a woman around 32 or 33 years old, wearing a black jacket, jeans, and a hat. She kept her head down, walking on the innermost side of the crowd, barely noticeable.

But Jing Ping, with his eyes that had caught countless drug dealers, spotted her almost instantly. Upon closer inspection, one could see she looked very tense, her face pale. Although the temperature in the plane was comfortable, her forehead was slightly sweaty, as if she was feeling unwell. This perfectly matched the characteristics of internal drug concealment.

"The one in black," Jing Ping said.

Yin Feng had no expertise in drug trafficking. Hearing this, he looked at the woman and then at Jing Ping. She was truly inconspicuous… but his eyes were sharp.

You Mingxu and Xu Mengshan understood immediately. Jing Ping made a gesture, and the three of them walked out through a side door, leaving Yin Feng behind to observe. The three of them slowly moved through the crowd, approaching the woman. Shortly after stepping off the plane, the woman had already been reluctant to stay close to others and gradually became isolated.

But under the overhead lights, more than one shadow fell on the ground.

The woman, already suffering from persistent abdominal pain and highly tense, suddenly noticed the shadows on the ground and heard light, brisk footsteps behind her. Her heart jolted.

It was too late.

"Don't move!"

Jing Ping twisted the woman's arm and pinned her against the wall. You Mingxu and Xu Mengshan flanked her protectively. A few scattered passengers who witnessed the scene were startled and hurried away. You Mingxu glanced over and saw Jing Ping's fierce expression—even when dealing with a female suspect, he showed no leniency.

The woman was immediately taken back to the room.

There was an X-ray machine inside.

Almost from the moment she was caught, the woman went completely limp, offering no resistance or argument. This only reinforced everyone's belief that she was the person they were after.

Jing Ping glanced at the X-ray machine. "Get on it."

The woman slowly climbed onto the platform.

Jing Ping snapped coldly, "Hurry up."

Only then did she move faster, positioning herself under the X-ray beam.

A full-body perspective image appeared on the screen.

Jing Ping froze abruptly.
