Gu Tiancheng said, "You Mingxu, when have I ever gone back on my word to you? Come out."
You Mingxu glanced at Jing Ping, who grabbed her hand. But You Mingxu knew better than Jing Ping—Gu Tiancheng only grew more ruthless when provoked, treating his own life as worthless. If this continued, the officer would truly be in mortal danger. Besides, Gu Tiancheng was right; he had always kept his promises to her. Back then, he had promised not to kill Yin Feng and had indeed spared him. You Mingxu broke free from Jing Ping’s grasp, her expression resolute as she stood up, gun in hand.
Jing Ping paused for a moment, then also rose, aiming his gun squarely at Gu Tiancheng’s forehead.
Not far away, Yin Feng had already joined Chen Feng and the others. Watching the scene unfold, his expression grew colder. "Gun," he demanded.
Chen Feng hesitated, unmoving.
Yin Feng shot him a look.
Reluctantly, Chen Feng placed the gun in his hand.
Yin Feng stood up, gun in hand. His stance was unexpectedly precise and steady, his brows slightly furrowed as he advanced slowly.
Gu Tiancheng glanced at You Mingxu, then swept his gaze over the two men following closely behind her—both wore cold, protective expressions. Unfazed, he chuckled and said, "Another new lover?"
You Mingxu stopped two meters away, refusing to move closer. "I’m here. Let him go."
Gu Tiancheng replied, "I will, once we’ve talked." His gaze lingered on her, a flicker of daze crossing his features. "You look beautiful in that."
You Mingxu even managed a faint smile. "Thank you for the compliment."
Gu Tiancheng’s eyes returned to her face—calm, focused, and filled with undisguised obsession, with suppressed desire simmering beneath the surface.
You Mingxu stared back unflinchingly, not daring to let her guard down for even a second. Their gazes clashed silently in the air. He chuckled softly and said, "You Mingxu, you know I love you."
Her heart jolted, her brows tightening, but the gun in her hand remained steady.
Jing Ping kept his eyes fixed on Gu Tiancheng, the outline of You Mingxu’s red skirt lingering in his peripheral vision.
Yin Feng stood slightly farther back but heard the words clearly. A chill settled in his heart, and his grip on the gun tightened.
Gu Tiancheng, however, saw only her—more beautiful than before, yet colder. For a moment, his mind drifted back to Tibet: the woman sitting beside him, saying, "I’ve been waiting for someone to appear." And the two of them under a tree, him holding her while she pretended to let him. He had said, "Whether I’ve been twisted or not, I’ll never forget this moment." She had replied, "Okay."
There had been light in my life.
But by the time I met her, I was almost extinguished.
When I say I love you, I mean it.
Every word I’ve spoken to you, I’ve kept.
A cornered killer, falling in love with the policewoman hunting him.
No one would believe it—just one day. That day, he had pretended to be an ordinary person, someone as upright and brave as her. That sense of connection was a long-overdue white light in his life, gently illuminating his heart. He knew she had felt it too, if only for a fleeting moment, before she denied it.
But for a social outcast like him, for a beast like him who deserved to die, it was enough.
Gu Tiancheng lifted his eyes, a hint of tears glistening. You Mingxu was taken aback, watching as he smiled bitterly, his face gaunt and weary.Gu Tiancheng steadied himself, not forgetting the despicable purpose in his heart. He lowered his voice to a whisper only two people could hear: "Mingxu, listen to me, those two documents are real."
You Mingxu merely stared at him, her expression completely unchanged, giving no indication whether she had heard or understood.
"Don't fall in love with him," Gu Tiancheng said. "He's my kind."
Suddenly, Gu Tiancheng shoved the police officer in his hands forward, and You Mingxu hurriedly caught him. But precisely because of this, the officer blocked Gu Tiancheng's body. Jing Ping and You Mingxu had no time to stop him when they heard a "bang."
Gu Tiancheng fell backward, a gun in his hand, a bloody hole in his temple. His eyes remained open, a smile on his lips.
You Mingxu's mind suddenly echoed his words: I'd rather die out here than fall into police hands again.
Yin Feng rushed forward in one swift step, taking the severely injured officer from You Mingxu. You Mingxu held her gun, looking down at Gu Tiancheng, while Yin Feng turned and handed the wounded officer to Chen Feng.
But Jing Ping didn't move. His heart suddenly raced wildly, as if there was some extremely subtle movement in the air—though it might just be an illusion. It was the terrifying intuition of a policeman who'd long walked the blade between life and death. Though the car showed no signs of movement, there were still two people inside: the severely injured Wei Lan and another man.
Jing Ping shouted: "Hit the deck—" You Mingxu was closest to the car. He lunged toward her. You Mingxu reflexively threw herself forward while glancing toward Yin Feng, but Jing Ping had already pinned her beneath him, rolling several times away while holding her tight. Everyone else dropped to the ground as well.
Yin Feng's eyes widened in shock as he also dove forward. Tuya had already flown over, solidly shielding him with his body.
"Boom—" A deafening explosion shook the entire garage. A fireball erupted from the car, flames shooting out like venomous tongues as a massive shockwave instantly swept through everything.
You Mingxu, still held tightly by Jing Ping, rolled beside another vehicle. At the moment of explosion, Jing Ping abruptly turned, using his back to block the impact while pressing You Mingxu's head down, completely shielding her in his embrace.

Author's Note:
Originally, the mole was going to be Xiao Yan, Chen Feng, or Tuya for a bigger plot twist. But the author couldn't bear to do it. So let's make it Wei Lan instead! Gu Tiancheng, our minor boss, has officially received his final curtain call today—thoroughly dead with no chance of resurrection.
