Coming to Myself

Chapter 183

You Mingxu opened her eyes again.

Under the light, the desire and madness in Yin Feng's eyes had vanished completely, as if he had returned to his usual self—his gaze cold, dark, and tinged with a hint of wickedness.

Yet You Mingxu’s neck still ached; he had genuinely used some force earlier—for the sake of realism. The biting and groping on her body had also been real, and some areas still throbbed faintly.

You Mingxu shook her wrist, the chain clinking softly.

Yin Feng pulled a key from his pocket.

Now, however, You Mingxu found every move he made utterly detestable. Why did he have to lift her wrist to unlock it, his fingertips lightly gliding over her arm, taking his time with the lock?

The chain fell away, freeing one of her hands. As Yin Feng turned to unlock the other, quicker than words could describe, a slap far louder than the one on the rooftop landed on his face.

He paused, looking down at her, his expression unreadable.

You Mingxu snatched the key from his hand and moved to unlock her other wrist. Before the key could reach the lock, her shoulder was suddenly weighed down. She swung her hand back for another slap, but this time Yin Feng was prepared. With only one hand free, she was easily evaded. He caught her hand and pinned her down once more.

They returned to their previous position, bodies pressed tightly together, eyes locked. His gaze was as deep as the ocean, while hers burned with fury. "Drugging a police officer? You’re a consultant for the police—breaking the law knowingly!"

He replied, "Didn’t I immediately cool you down with a cold shower and give you a stimulant pill?"

You Mingxu gritted her teeth, the sensation of feverish euphoria still lingering in her memory. True, he had thrown her into the bathtub, drenching her until she was cold and mostly awake. But before that, despite her blurred consciousness, she remembered clearly how he had taken full advantage of her. And just now, in front of the mole, though covered by a blanket, he had groped her relentlessly beneath it. If not for catching the traitor, they would have ended up fighting on the bed!

"Immediately?" she repeated his word.

He pinched her chin and said, "The act had to be convincing. The suspect was highly cautious. To make them believe I’d kill in a fit of rage, my emotions, my actions, the conflict between us—it all had to escalate and accumulate. Besides..." He glanced at her figure, now almost exposed after the struggle, and added, "I’m a man, one who desires you. You were so passionate earlier, and my self-control has never been strong. How could I resist? You Mingxu felt a surge of anger blocking his chest and sneered, "I was passionate? Would I have been if you hadn’t drugged me? Why didn’t you warn me beforehand?"

Yin Feng, however, seemed amused by her rage. He pinched her cheek again. You Mingxu dodged and tried to headbutt him, but he evaded easily, pressing her head down instead. His breath brushed her face as he said lazily, "I told you to improvise and cooperate at any moment, that I had everything under control. After all, I couldn’t predict every development. Now, isn’t the outcome perfect? That snake couldn’t resist showing itself so soon."

You Mingxu stared fixedly at him.

He had indeed said those words.

...

A few hours earlier. When You Mingxu encountered Yin Feng in an intimate moment with another woman on the terrace, she was furious and about to leave, but Yin Feng whispered two words in her ear: "Trust me."

It was because of those two words, and because he said them without a trace of frivolity or arrogance, only calmness and resolve, that You Mingxu followed him into the study.

Once inside, he locked the door, took her hand, and led her to the most secluded corner of the study. Without preamble, he said, "I arranged it on purpose for you to see. I suspect there's someone among us, planted by them."

You Mingxu was taken aback.

Earlier, she had been enraged, but now, having calmed down, she began to sense something amiss. Given Yin Feng's capabilities, if he truly intended to cheat on her, he would have done it flawlessly. Yet today, he had canceled their plans at the last minute, and so coincidentally, she had caught him in the act...

Still, she was somewhat skeptical. She looked at him and said, "Go on, keep spinning your tale."

Yin Feng smiled and replied, "I don't want to get my legs broken."

You Mingxu paused for a moment before realizing what he meant. For some reason, most of her doubts vanished.

Yin Feng continued, "Besides, I'm pursuing you right now. How could I possibly touch another woman? What kind of person do you think I am? Someone who sleeps with anyone?"

You Mingxu snorted lightly and said, "I don't care what kind of person you are. But using promiscuity to catch a mole in a perverse organization—that's a logic I've never heard before."

Yin Feng reached out to touch a strand of hair by her cheek, but she immediately swatted his hand away. He smiled again and said, "To convince someone smart, you have to use smart logic. After discovering that fake 'Yin Feng' in Guizhou, I suspected there was a mole close to me. Otherwise, they couldn't have known my schedule so well and seamlessly replaced me."

You Mingxu nodded in agreement; she saw the point.

"During this time, I've stayed put, partly to observe discreetly and partly to plan today's scheme. You'll play a key role. I already have a suspect in mind," Yin Feng said.

"I'm the key role?"

"Yes. This organization, since it collects and cultivates perverse killers, has taken an interest in me and has schemed against me before. They want to recruit me. But now that I've regained my senses, their recent actions have been nothing but probing and inducing, avoiding direct confrontation. Of course, I have a score to settle with them too. Since they've been leading us in circles—whether it's Xiang Rong, Luo Yu, or the Kaiyang Group—all the clues have dried up. I might as well actively reveal a weakness to lure the mole into showing their hand. And you are my only weakness."

You Mingxu glanced at him, a faint smirk tugging at her lips.

Yin Feng said, "What, don't believe me? For money, looks, power, interests, or personal desires—none of that could ever lead me down the path of crime. All these years, I've never fallen. Only for you..." He paused, his gaze dark and intense as it settled on her face. "...would they half-believe it. But that's enough."

For some reason, You Mingxu felt a tremor in her heart. Keeping her expression neutral, she asked, "So what's next?"

Yin Feng replied, "I don't plan to tell you the entire plan. Just act as if we never had this conversation. React naturally to whatever happens next, improvise as needed. I'll handle everything."The man did not reveal who he was suspecting. So when Guan Jun came in with tea, You Mingxu followed his instructions, pretending to know nothing and adopting a cold, rejecting posture. As a psychologist, he clearly had a more refined grasp of behavior and psychology. Sitting there with a gloomy expression for Guan Jun to see, anyone could feel the oppressive and chilling aura emanating from him.
