Almost Lover

Chapter 70

Chapter 68: The Scandal

The intense battle finally came to an end.

Both Teng Yi and Bi Chengjie were drenched in sweat.

Though the results hadn’t been announced yet, Xiao Qing, Lin Shan, and Zhou Xihe were already high-fiving each other, looking as if victory was assured.

Ruan Yu gazed at Teng Yi standing at the center of the stage, her heart finally settling into calm.

A moment later, the judge stepped onto the stage.

The judge was Korean, sporting a small mustache, his round head wrapped in a white headscarf. From his attire, he was clearly a seasoned street dancer.

“Bi Chengjie! Saranghae!”

Bi Chengjie’s fans screamed.

Even though their idol’s performance had been mediocre, fans always viewed their favorites through rose-tinted glasses—like a mother doting on her child, no matter how outstanding others might be, none could compare to their own.

The judge positioned himself between Teng Yi and Bi Chengjie, greeting them both before drawing out the suspense. Finally, he took each of their hands.

“Bi Chengjie! Bi Chengjie!”

“Teng Yi! Teng Yi!”

The audience erupted into chaos, voices clashing in a deafening uproar.

“So damn slow,” Teng Hao muttered impatiently.

Ruan Yu smiled, about to respond to Teng Hao, but before she could speak, her smile froze on her lips.

Under the bright lights, she watched as the judge raised Bi Chengjie’s hand, then turned to embrace Teng Yi.

The venue fell silent for a few seconds.

Teng Yi was stunned by the gesture.

“Ah! Bi Chengjie! Bi Chengjie!”

Bi Chengjie’s fans were the first to react. Their shrieks snapped the rest of the bewildered audience out of their daze—and woke Teng Yi up as well.

Teng Yi let out a cold laugh. Without a single word, his face dark with fury, he strode off the stage.

Staff members shouted his name, urging him to stay for a group photo, but Teng Yi didn’t look back.

Ruan Yu had never seen Teng Yi like this before. In her memory, he had always been gentle and polite. But now, his entire demeanor radiated one emotion: I don’t accept this!

“Damn it!” Xiao Qing growled under his breath. “These idiots actually made the fix this blatant!”

“Teng Yi!”

“Teng Yi!”

“Teng Yi!”

Someone started chanting his name, and soon, many of the dancers in the audience joined in.

Teng Yi still didn’t turn back—his refusal to acknowledge the result was his statement.

That defiant figure grew smaller as he walked away, but the sweat and brilliance he had left on the stage remained etched in everyone’s minds. Who truly won and who lost? Everyone already knew the answer.

“Teng Yi!”

“Teng Yi!”

“Teng Yi!”

The righteous and indignant chants easily drowned out the scattered screams from Bi Chengjie’s fans.

Never had anyone made losing look so monumental.

Ruan Yu’s eyes burned with emotion.

Bi Chengjie stood on stage, accepting the awkward honor without a trace of shame on his face. His shamelessness insulted every dancer present that night.

What nerve.

One by one, the crowd began leaving, following Teng Yi’s lead.

“Let’s go! Let’s go!”

Xiao Qing and the others stood up, and Teng Hao tugged at Ruan Yu’s sleeve.

The group headed out together.

Ruan Yu’s gaze remained fixed on Teng Yi. He was walking fast, and she wanted to catch up to comfort him. But suddenly, a flash of red intercepted him at the exit—someone brazenly clinging to his arm.

It was Fang Wan.
