Chapter 65: Big Flower
The first group finished, and Nino and Teng Yi took their seats in the audience.
Nino was pulled away by his friends to the back, while Teng Yi scanned the crowd before walking over and squeezing himself between Ruan Yu and Teng Hao. Both Ruan Yu and Teng Hao scooted aside to make room for him, letting him sit more comfortably.
Fang Wan sat on the other side, her gaze drifting toward them with a hint of meaning, a touch of curiosity. But in the end, the emotions in her eyes faded away.
After all, no one could be sure whether Teng Yi had gone there for Ruan Yu or for Teng Hao.
"Bro, you were so cool, so cool, so cool..." Teng Hao sounded like a broken record.
"Is that the only word you know?" Teng Yi nudged Ruan Yu with his elbow. "You should tutor him in Chinese."
Ruan Yu laughed.
"What's so funny?" He looked at her, a sheen of sweat glistening on his forehead.
"Nothing. It's just that if I had to speak right now, I'd probably only know that one word too."
"Is that... a compliment?"
"Yeah, a compliment. You were so cool."
Teng Yi grinned.
Xiao Qing and the others reached past Ruan Yu to bump fists with Teng Yi.
Teng Yi returned the gestures one by one, and as he moved, the scent of medicinal patches on his body mixed with his sweat.
"Are you okay?" Ruan Yu pointed at his shoulder and asked softly.
She had been worried about his shoulder the entire time he was performing those high-intensity support moves earlier.
Teng Yi glanced at her and suddenly replied in a low voice, "What? Worried about me?"
The words were nearly drowned out by the music, but Ruan Yu still heard them.
Her heart fluttered in panic. Had he noticed her hidden concern, or was he just teasing her casually?
"I just smelled the medicinal patches," she said.
Neither admitting nor denying.
A clever evasion.
Teng Yi nodded and smiled. "I'm fine."
The second group of contestants took the stage, helping them steer away from the awkward topic. Ruan Yu exhaled slightly in relief.
Bi Chengjie was in the second group. He had fans in the audience—several girls who started chanting slogans in unison the moment they saw him. Stuff like "Chengjie, fly fearlessly, oranges will follow forever..." drew laughter from the dancers around them.
In the street dance scene, this kind of fanfare wasn’t the norm.
Bi Chengjie, however, took it in stride. He even blew a kiss toward where his fans were standing.
The girls immediately blew kisses back.
"Not bad perks," Zhou Xihe remarked from the side.
"Jealous?" Xiao Qing shot him a look.
"Sort of."
"If you're jealous, go debut too. I think you're way better-looking than Bi Chengjie."
"Lao Xiao, after all these years, you’ve finally said something decent."
"Get lost!"
Bi Chengjie’s opponent was a dancer named Wang Qiang, nicknamed Big Flower. The nickname came from the way his windmill moves resembled a blooming flower.
It wasn’t meant as an insult—rather, it was high praise.
At first, Wang Qiang thought the name was tacky, but then he realized his real name wasn’t much better. Gradually, he embraced it wholeheartedly, responding eagerly whenever someone called him Big Flower and even introducing himself as such.
Big Flower took the stage first.
He was another dancer with great musicality, building his performance step by step until his final windmill move—nothing short of iconic.
