Chapter 60: Taking You There
Before starting his homework, Teng Hao needed to practice dancing for a while. Ruan Yu sat on the practice room floor, leaning against the mirror, memorizing vocabulary while waiting for him.
Dancing practice itself was a tedious and exhausting process, especially when laying the foundation and mastering the basics. But just as towering buildings rise from the ground, without a solid foundation, even the tallest structure would be a shoddy project.
Teng Hao hadn’t understood this principle before and lacked patience. After being lectured by Teng Yi, he had completely reformed. Recently, when learning new moves, he no longer rushed for quick results but instead took steady, deliberate steps to refine his skills.
Ruan Yu memorized a word, glanced at Teng Hao, memorized another word, glanced at Teng Hao again…
Both of them were enduring a monotonous process.
By the end, Teng Hao was drenched in sweat.
He took off his school uniform, wiped his face with it, and sat down beside her.
The boy wore only a tank top, his body radiating heat like a furnace. Even without touching him, she could feel the warmth emanating from him.
"Don’t take off your clothes, you’ll catch a cold," Ruan Yu reminded him.
"It’s fine, I’m not some weakling."
"Who are you calling weak?"
"Whoever fits the bill."
Ruan Yu rolled her eyes and decided not to engage further.
Teng Hao grinned, as if he’d won some small victory.
They sat quietly for a while until the heat radiating from Teng Hao gradually dissipated. He reached for his discarded school uniform.
Though only seventeen and not yet an adult, Teng Hao’s muscles already had a well-defined outline. Compared to the average student, street dancing had tempered both his willpower and physique.
Ruan Yu watched Teng Hao’s reflection in the mirror across from them. He noticed her gaze and, while pulling on his shirt, flexed his arm proudly to show off his muscles.
"Pretty cool, huh?"
Ruan Yu let out a soft scoff, thinking that no matter how cool he was, he still couldn’t compare to his brother.
Teng Hao thought the same.
"Still nowhere near as good as my brother, though."
"At least you’re self-aware."
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Teng Hao turned his head. "Have you seen my brother’s muscles?"
Ruan Yu nearly choked on her own saliva. Suppressing a cough, her face instantly flushed red.
"No way… You really have?"
"When’s your brother’s competition?" Ruan Yu steadied her breathing and changed the subject.
Teng Hao was simple-minded—once she shifted the topic, his train of thought naturally followed.
"Next Wednesday."
"Can we go watch?"
"You want to?"
Before Ruan Yu could answer, footsteps echoed in the hallway, and a tall figure passed by the door.
"Bro!" Teng Hao shouted.
The figure took a few steps back and leaned in to look inside.
"What’s up?" It was Teng Yi.
"Bro, the top-scorer here says she wants to watch your competition."
Ruan Yu wanted to strangle him—when had she ever said that?
Teng Yi shifted his gaze to Ruan Yu, who sat beside Teng Hao. Both of them were on the floor—Teng Hao slouched lazily in his oversized uniform, while she sat cross-legged with a book in her hands, looking well-behaved. Whether it was the practice room lighting or not, her complexion seemed especially bright today.
"I… didn’t, I was just asking," she tried to explain, but her vague response only seemed to confirm Teng Hao’s claim.
"You want to go?" Teng Yi looked at her calmly.
Ruan Yu fell silent for a moment.
"You don’t want to?"
She immediately shook her head.
"If you don’t want to, forget it." Teng Yi turned to leave.
"No, I do want to go!" Ruan Yu blurted out.Teng Yi turned his head, and she saw the smile on his face, realizing he was teasing her again.
"Alright, I'll take you."
