Chapter 17

Chapter 16: Men Are All Big Pigs' Feet

Ruan Yu had just finished drying her hair when she heard Jian Xiangxiang suddenly let out a shriek behind her.

"Ruan Ruan!"

She turned off the buzzing hairdryer and looked back at Jian Xiangxiang.

"What's wrong?"

"Is this a man's jacket?" Jian Xiangxiang sat on the edge of her bed, holding Teng Yi's coat in both hands, her face glowing with gossipy excitement.

The other two roommates' attention was immediately drawn to Jian Xiangxiang.

Chen Manbai walked over, glanced at the logo on the coat, and added, "And a very expensive one at that."

"Confess! What's going on here?"

Ruan Yu put away the hairdryer, walked over, snatched the coat back, and hung it on a hanger by her bed.

"I'm dizzy. I need to sleep for a while."

"Don't dodge the question! Tell us, whose coat is this?"

Ruan Yu didn't answer. Instead, she burrowed under the covers and fell asleep immediately.

Jian Xiangxiang kept babbling questions, but Ruan Yu had no energy left to respond—she really was dizzy.

She slept until morning, but her dizziness hadn't eased, and now her nose was stuffed up too.

Great. She had caught a cold.

Using her cold as an excuse, Ruan Yu slept in for an extra hour and skipped her usual English corner vocabulary session.

When Jian Xiangxiang woke up and saw Ruan Yu still in bed, she rubbed her sleepy eyes, thinking she must still be dreaming.

"Did the sun rise from the west today? Since when do you laze around?"

"Yeah, giving myself a break." Ruan Yu's voice came out hoarse as soon as she spoke.

"You're sick, aren't you?" Jian Xiangxiang climbed down from her bed and walked over to Ruan Yu's, pressing a hand to her forehead. "At least you don't have a fever."

"Just a sore throat."

Xia Qiaofeng, woken by the noise, poked her head out from under the covers. "Go to the infirmary and get some medicine."

"It's fine. Drinking more hot water will help."

Ruan Yu sat up and got dressed. As she did, her gaze fell on the dark coat hanging by her bed. She reached out and felt inside—still slightly damp. She thought to herself that once it dried completely, she'd return it to Teng Yi and forget about yesterday's events. She wanted nothing more to do with the Teng brothers.

With Chen Manbai now in the dorm and Ruan Yu no longer staggering her schedule, the bathroom suddenly felt unbearably cramped. Even with each of them occupying a corner during morning routines, elbows and feet still bumped into each other.

Jian Xiangxiang, who usually washed her hair every morning, didn’t have time today because of the chaos.

"Chen Manbai, you should just move out. And Ruan Yu, once you recover, please keep waking up early to study. Let Xia Qiaofeng and me live in peace with some space!"

"Dream on. I'm moving back in for good," Chen Manbai said.

"Oh my god, what kind of thunderbolt-from-the-blue disaster is this?!"

"Some jerk reported me to the dorm supervisor, saying I never sleep here and violated the student handbook. They threatened disciplinary action."

"Who would do something so rotten?! I'll fight them! Just for the sake of my greasy hair, I won't let them get away with it!" Jian Xiangxiang fumed. "I have lunch plans with Zhou Xihe today!"

Chen Manbai scoffed. "Oh, so you and that playboy are actually together now?"

"Don't talk about him like that!" Jian Xiangxiang immediately went into protective mode. "He treats me really well!""Alright, alright, I won't talk about him. I'm just giving you a heads-up—men are all pigs."
