Chapter 128 Reconciliation
Teng Hao and Yun Shen got together. At first, Ren Tianhai was unwilling to agree. Although his Yun Shen also had flaws, in Ren Tianhai's heart, she was perfect. Teng Hao, confined to a wheelchair, naturally didn’t deserve her. But parents can never win against their children because children are their softest spot. Yun Shen was in love—what could he do about it? Moreover, Teng Hao treated Yun Shen exceptionally well.
What moved Ren Tianhai the most was how Teng Hao could understand Yun Shen’s sign language anytime, anywhere, allowing the two to communicate without any barriers. It wasn’t particularly touching for someone to say sweet words to another, but if someone was willing to learn a language only the other could understand, that was undoubtedly true love.
After being discharged from the hospital, Teng Hao couldn’t even wait for his injuries to fully heal before arranging for both sides to meet the parents.
Teng Yi represented the groom’s family, while Ren Tianhai represented the bride’s. The four of them dined together at Tianhe Grand Hotel in Liaocheng.
Looking at the two brothers sitting upright in their crisp suits, Ren Tianhai couldn’t help but sigh at how quickly time had passed. The two unruly boys from the neighborhood had grown into such mature and steady men in the blink of an eye.
During the meal, Teng Hao and Yun Shen were affectionate, taking care of each other in small ways, which kept Teng Yi and Ren Tianhai smiling fondly the entire time.
At one point, the conversation somehow turned to Zhou Xu, and Ren Tianhai still couldn’t let it go.
"I heard Jingtai is just an empty shell now, which is why Zhou Xu clung to Yun Shen like a lifeline. It’s my fault—I was blinded for a moment and almost pushed Yun Shen into a pit of fire. But that kid was also foolish. Yun Shen is my only daughter. If he had treated her well, not just 40% of the shares, but the entire Haike Group would have been his in the future. With such shortsightedness, no wonder he couldn’t hold onto Jingtai!"
"Uncle, don’t dwell on the past. In a way, if it weren’t for Zhou Xu, Yun Shen and I might not have gotten together so quickly."
"That’s true. Misfortune may be a blessing in disguise, and blessings may conceal misfortune. Everything happens for the best." Ren Tianhai reached out and patted Teng Hao’s shoulder. "Young man, don’t let me down."
"Don’t worry, Uncle. I won’t disappoint you."
"Honestly, I don’t have too many demands of you. I just hope you’ll treat Shen Shen well, yield to her in everything, protect her, and—most importantly—let her always do what she loves."
"Of course." Teng Hao took Yun Shen’s hand. "In this world, there are two kinds of happiness: one is waking up every day to see the person you love, and the other is waking up every day to do what you love. I’ll make sure Yun Shen has both forever."
"Good, good. It’s just that I worry you’ll have a hard time."
"I don’t feel the slightest bit burdened. What I’m doing now is also what I love." Teng Hao smiled. "I used to be someone without any goals. Watching my brother dance made me think it was cool, so I clamored to learn it too. I thought that was my passion, but in reality, I was just chasing the thrill of showing off. True passion shouldn’t be so shallow—just about seeking excitement. True passion should bring a sense of achievement and always maintain a sense of reverence."He now managed DT, monitored the market, made investments, shouldered the lifeblood of employees and the survival of the enterprise. There were moments of achievement and reverence, making him truly feel the vibrancy and value of life. He thought, this was the passion that belonged to him.
"Right, right, that makes sense," Ren Tianhai listened to Teng Hao's reflections and found the young man increasingly likable.
"I now have the capability to protect everything I want to protect," Teng Hao held Yun Shen's hand, but his gaze fell on Teng Yi. "I hope the people I love can all do what they love."
Teng Yi lowered his head, gripping the teacup, unmoving for a long time. Teng Hao's words were filled with deep affection—not just for Yun Shen, but also for him. How could he not understand?
After the four finished their meal and left the hotel, Teng Yi saw Teng Hao and the others off before calling Ruan Yu.
"Where are you?"
"At the bar."
"What are you doing?"
"Learning to be the boss's wife."
Teng Yi laughed.
He drove to the bar, which was unusually lively that day. As soon as he pushed the door open, he saw several staff members gathered around Ruan Yu.
"Come on, come on! Today's special event—every customer who spends in the bar gets an autograph from the boss's wife!" a young employee shouted enthusiastically.
Teng Yi: "..."
What was this, a shopping mall promotion?
Customers in the hall flocked to Ruan Yu. Some weren't satisfied with just an autograph and greedily asked for photos. She was good-natured, refusing no one.
The atmosphere in the bar was so lively that even Teng Yi, the actual boss, went unnoticed when he arrived.
Teng Yi didn’t announce himself. He leaned against the side, watching Ruan Yu sign autographs and take photos one by one. Only when she was free did he walk up behind her.
"The boss's wife is quite popular."
Hearing his voice, Ruan Yu turned around and immediately smiled at him.
"Of course! I'm a star, okay? The top host in Liaocheng."
Teng Yi chuckled and reached out his hand. She took it, and the two went upstairs together.
Ruan Yu thought he would take her to the lounge, but after going upstairs, he led her straight to the practice room.
The shattered glass on one side of the practice room was still there. Ruan Yu noticed it as soon as she entered.
"What's that? Did you break it?"
Teng Yi nodded.
"Practicing punches or self-harm?"
He didn’t answer, only closed the door behind them and pulled her into a kiss.
Caught off guard, Ruan Yu stumbled backward as he pressed forward. The two kissed and stumbled their way to the center of the practice room.
The mirrors on all four sides reflected their embrace.
He rarely seemed this impatient. Ruan Yu found it strange but couldn’t spare the breath to ask. With just a few teasing touches, she melted into his arms.
When the kiss ended, Teng Yi cupped Ruan Yu’s face, pressing his forehead against hers before stealing another peck from her lips.
"What’s up with you today?" Ruan Yu asked.
"Nothing."
"Really nothing?"
"Yeah. Just ate too much 'dog food' earlier. Came back to try something fresh."
Ruan Yu burst out laughing. "Seems like Yun Shen and Teng Hao are getting along even better now."
"Yeah, they’re good," he said, then added with emotion, "As long as they’re happy."
"Teng Yi, they don’t need your worry anymore," Ruan Yu pointed at the mirror. "Right now, it’s you who worries me. What exactly happened to this mirror?"
"That’s the result of my fight against the world.""……"
So profound.
Teng Yi hugged Ruan Yu, resting his chin on her shoulder.
"Little Fish, I used to think that if Teng Hao wasn’t doing well, I had no right to be happy either. But it wasn’t until today that I realized how wrong I was. Turns out, Teng Hao is so open-minded and generous—he’s long made peace with the world. It was me who kept getting stuck in my own stubbornness. To outsiders, it might seem like he’s my burden, but in reality, I’ve been the one weighing on his heart all along. What I truly owe him isn’t just that accident from back then, but the fact that he moved on from it while I never did."
"I’m glad you understand. You’re brothers. To Teng Hao, your happiness is what truly matters for his own." Ruan Yu gently stroked the back of Teng Yi’s hand. "Promise me, no matter what, you’ll never hurt yourself again."
"I promise. Now, promise me something too."
"What is it?"
"Come with me somewhere tomorrow."
"Where do you want to go?"
"Journey to the West."
